Guess I forgot to bother checking what was actually made and only went by what I saw sold at retail (which was only Sonic characters).
They only made DECENT toys of the Sonic characters, Aiai, Amigo, and Beat were all those stupid tiny figures where the body doesn't come out of the car. They weren't widely available individually and mostly just came as part of the S&SASR set. In fact, I think the Ryo figure was a one off deal made by a completely separate company. I do wish SEGA would realize how cool an actual Sega All-Stars line of 6 to 8 inch action figures would be though, I'd love to have Beat, Ryo, Ulala, and Alex Kidd on my SEGA shelf alongside my generations figures.
Something a Joystiq commenter by the alias of Exu picked up from the Sonic 4 Episode 2 trailer: I hear similarities as well.
I think everyone noticed it the second the trailer came out. Spoiler Episode 2 is rehashing again, etc.
I hate the use of the word rehash... Sylvania Castle is NOT copypaste. Recreating things in HD and 3D is harder than simply creating things. Sonic 4 did the same "rehash" as other sonic titles have done: Green Hill, Green Grove, Turquoise Hill, Palmtree Panic, Sunset Hill, Neo Green Hill, Neo South Island... Some serious "rehash" was the absence of remixes on the console version of SSASR. Also they probably used the all stars racing song for hinting the sequel, I doubt the track will be in the game.
Only similarities I can hear is the guitar riff of the Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - Episode 2's trailer. :v: I would gladly accept a sequel to All-Stars Racing, I had tons of fun with the first one despite it being a drift-fest to win most of the times, it was challenging indeed but it was a fun challenge. Plus, so many wonderful tracks in it along with so many famous characters available to choose. So yeah, I'd accept a sequel with open arms. It better have more Bonanza Bros.
Ok... two things. Metal Sonic's course SHOULD be Stardust Speedway! Secondly... what's with the Hank Hill/SEGA thing? Is this a joke? It's gone WAY over my head.
Oh my gosh, this makes me SO freaking happy. I loved S&SASR! Hell, I'd say that its better than the Mario Kart games! I just hope they make Ristar and NiGHTS playable this time around.
So, in addition to us getting this hint from Sonic Paradise's Twitter... https://twitter.com/#!/sonicparadise/status/196103778125099008 ...we also just got this Tweet from Steve Lycett's long-dormant account. https://twitter.com/#!/S0LSUM0/status/196675051414749185 ASR2 (or, at least, something Sonic made by Sumo Digital on the off-chance it isn't ASR2) is pretty much confirmed now. EDIT: https://twitter.com/#!/sonicparadise/status/196690276142694400 Yeaaahh booyyyy.
Gamesradar has put up a page for Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed: http://www.gamesradar.com/ps3/sonic-all-stars-racing-transformed/ It might be nice if that meant that you will drive vehicles that can transform, depending if they'd pull it off well. I also hope Big Bo will be in this game.

The sad thing about this quote is that I actually enjoyed Crash Tag Team Racing. Hopefully Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed pulls this gimmick off a lot better though. And I can almost bet that Sonic & Tails' Transform combination will just be the 69 attack from Sonic 4 Episode 2. :v:
Why can't they call it "Sega Racing Transformed". Why all these pointless extra words. Too much reliance on one franchise.
You do know what company we're dealing with here, right? Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection says hello.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed Reveal Trailer, Preview and Interview. Boat and flying segments are in the game. Music is pretty fucking amazing. Also, Skies of Arcadia stage and Vyse already confirmed. It looks incredible already.
