Licensing digital vs physical isn't that simple. Especially whenever Avex is involved. edit: Obviously I don't know the backend story of SASRT's soundtrack, but I'm speaking from personal experience with a few other soundtracks.

Appreciate the removal, thanks. Shows there is at least some desire to get the soundtrack at least! It's something I did talk over with SEGA, to see if we could even a limited print run for EU and US (not least as I wanted a copy...) but whilst soundtrack CD's do well commercially in Japan, they don't do enough overseas as it tends to be mostly downloads these days. Hence the choice to put it out there on iTunes. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but at least it means we can get out a properly mastered and mixed version for those that wanted it. Jun actually took this one on himself, so it's not been a B team production either. Hence my prickliness about it, took a bunch of arm twisting to get it done and out there. Anyway, appreciate the quick turn around and support. --- S0L —
Welp. Did not know that was up there, everyone kept going on about iTunes. Still minorly annoying that it's a multi-part release, but the two prices make up a full album cost... consider me suitably ashamed for not looking. =P
Makes sense, I suppose. It cuts out the middle man of buying the CD then ripping it at home (let's be honest, copy protection does nothing these days) and slapping it on a fancy MP3 playing doohickey. But I do like seeing the soundtracks on the shelf. Just part of a dying era, then.
I would've posted about it on the front page sooner had I known about it. http://www.sonicretro.org/2014/06/sonic-all-stars-racing-transformed-soundtrack-available-on-itunes-and-amazonmp3/
You know, I proper laughed when I came back to find that as front page news. In a good way of course. Hey, back in the naughty corner you! You have 15 more minutes to do... --- S0L —
Hey, once I found out, I had to buy the soundtrack off of Amazon, which makes listening to it a whole lot easier for me. Now that we, er, got your attention, since the Japanese version is out, when do the other versions get the Japanese announcer/Puyo block item? Eh? Eh?
When the consoles get all the PC only DLC, and Ruby Eclipse forces his hand and Miku is added in/replaces Danica Patrick
Just wanted to say real quick we all totally appreciate it, I was pretty resigned to thinking we'd never get an OST release for this game but we did, and for a pretty good price to boot. It's been getting plenty of use in my vehicle so thank you. And hell while I'm already brown-nosing, really looking forward to Forza Horizon 2, I know you guys are going to do fantastic on the 360 version.
I thought we were getting more DLC or something since this topic had a mini-explosion. Always nice to see S0L though.
If/when a US print turns out to be a reality: Disc 1: 18 - The start* for the songs on Temple Trouble are reversed, the "Jungle stage" start* plays on the "Monkey Ball Theme" and the "Monkey Ball Theme" start* plays on the "Jungle stage" dunno why. 24 - Seasonal Shrine's cinematic intro fades into the track, obviously it was intentional but why just this track? 31 - Same case as '18' - "Nights and Reala" start* plays on "Paternal Horn"* and "Paternal Horn" start* plays on "Nights and Reala". Disc 2: 03 - Same case as the previously mentioned tracks; reversed start * bits on Graffitti City. 08 - Same case as the previously mentioned tracks; reversed start * bits on Graveyard Gig. 10 - Same case as the previously mentioned tracks; reversed start * bits on Adder's Lair. 12 - The start*bits were removed between the track sections (I prefer it this way, though; but where were they included on the other tracks anyway?) 33 - The Credits theme start * is wrong; The one from the 'Online Menu' was used here, where one from the 'Title theme' should be used instead. Personal comment: Some tracks do sound much better than the in-game counterparts, specially 1-07 and 1-16! *The little loop with lowpass filter before a track starts/change vehycle form
I just picked up a Vita and a bunch of games. The Vita version of Transformed is pretty cheap right now, worth getting?
