  1. Nvm, didn't read the other pages >_>

Actually, was that replaced with the Lion in the other releases?

The lion kinda has to be; there's an emerald shard that can show up in its mouth.

Does anyone know if SADX (I.e., the older PC version) still has that cowgirl data anywhere in it?

WTF? I never knew about the cow girl! Is it just empty space in the revision?

I've never played the Japanese version (or any Dreamcast game), but according to the object lists, "O COWGIRL" was replaced with "O NEON K":

The cowgirl could still be in the data, but I doubt it.

thats on the ground floor right? feels weird thinking that a cowgirl was there once lol

  7. I wonder if the cowgirl is present in the DX version's data. After all, the Sky Chase dragon was, if I remember correctly.

It's clearly on the top floor in the video.

  9. If it's of any help, I remember old news articles mentioning certain Dreamcast troubles at launch including certain games not booting.

I specifically recall Sonic Adventure being shown/mentioned. Perhaps one of the revisions was intended to fix this.

As I said, I doubt it. If it is though, nothing references it, because unlike the Sky Chase dragon, the cowgirl object was completely removed from the list.

Bump. I re-bought Sonic Adventure at an indie shop recently (for $1.99, why not?) and it's the third US copy in a row that I've seen difference with, so I figured I'd share my findings.

    First copy:
White/'Sega Dreamcast' case. This version featured several glitches that I haven't seen in any other copy of this game since. Occasionally, the controller would become unresponsive if you tried to play Sand Hill (the start button would work, but any input for Sonic didn't.. very odd). It might have been a hardware error, but I played my Dreamcast rather extensively back then and it only happened if I played one specific mini-game.

There was also a very strange texture glitch with Big during the final battle with Perfect Chaos. He was like a mix of gold and chrome as if he were only semi-textured and somehow received Super Sonic's bright gold-ish color (though the idea of Super Big scares me).

I purchased this game and a Dreamcast used from an indie game store in 2002, and when I did they had to go through a stack of copies of the game (most of which didn't boot) and a handful of Dreamcasts to finally mix and match a good pair. Apparently there were some problems with US launch discs, and I've heard this game is notorious for not booting (despite being scratch-free in some instances) from others as well.

Second copy: Black/'Dreamcast' case (Sega All Stars), bought in 2004. Both of aforementioned problems were patched. Big was finally purple.

Third copy: White/'Sega Dreamcast' case, bought recently. This one seems to be a late white release that came out in between my first and second copy. The problems that were patched in the black label version are also fixed in this one.

So yeah, I'd like to say there's at least three separate revisions of the game in the US alone unless the All-Stars version is just a re-badge with no additional revision. Believe me if you'd like, or not. The game is pretty cheap and easy to find, maybe one of you could find an even better glitched copy. :P

So, this is a tad embarrassing to have to ask...

I generally have an idea of Casinopolis' layout, but since I'd never played until DX, I'm having trouble pinpointing where the cowgirl appeared in the DC stage layout? And what was she replaced with in DX? The giant green wall with the tiny map? The pirate ship? It's not ingrained in my brain as it would be if I'd had a Dreamcast, so I don't quite know what to look for. Clearly the spot in question is above the ground floor, but that's about the only obvious distinction I know.

Writing my own MD/Genesis sound driver :D
Sonic Adventure International was released on the EU launch date so I guess so :/

This kind of scenario is part of the reason I'm not too happy with the current disc preservation scene. In the distant future I'll start doing DC game rips from scratch, taking this kind of scenario into some consideration (depending on if I can).

@MM: Ah, okay, yeah, for some reason I saw 'big pix' and scrolled past them last time, which made Muteki's post that much less clear. Whoops, sorry about that! :specialed:

Are you really sure this wasn't one of those glitches that may happen once in a lifetime? That seems too obvious to have been left in any version of the game.

Nope, I've seen it myself on the very first copy of SADC I've ever owned. Haven't seen it in any other copies to date.

Leaping through time, putting things right that once went wrong, and hoping each time that the next leap will be the leap home.
I don't know what all these title screen shenanigans are about, but MY copy of Sonic Adventure has a static title screen. I got mine maybe a week or 2 after my older brother got his Dreamcast on launch day.

And that copy of Sonic Adventure ended up contributing to the baking of said Dreamcast's power supply, but that's a story for another thread.

Bump to contribute my findings. The later International revisions have cut music tracks compared to early International copies, particularly Dreams Dreams (unlocked by DLC).
