It could be possible. I'd like to think that I'm wrong (which I more often than not am), but with their recent lay-offs, I would question if they can afford to divert more resources than they need to in order to bring it over.
Everyone is saying no PC port exists... ...a PC version was planned but canned before release. Surely this means a PC version could exist internally within SEGA...possibly in a complete state?
If they don't have enough money to make a decent port than I worry about any upcoming game in development at SEGA. The SADX port isn't much to go by because the Dreamcast ports released afterwards are all widescreen.
That's not proper widescreen though. The game may be 720p but it's stretched out from 4:3 and looks ugly because of it.
Ok I realise this isn't exactly a solid point of reference, especially when compared to Retro's own wiki... however...I can only really currently find reference to it here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Games_developed_by_Sonic_Team_(AM8)_and_affiliates <<<it is listed under cancelled games. The person who looks after this article must have gotten the information from somewhere though, and given how SADX was put onto PC, I see no reason to disbelieve that at some point SA2 or SA2B were planned. Seems highly likely to me...I mean SEGA love porting Sonic onto PC and in recent years love re-releasing all the old games Sonic in particular. According to that same list Sonic 2006 was also planned for PC...this is likely too, though given the largely negative reaction to it, its no surprise it got cancelled, also lists Sonic 2006 as cancelled for Wii, which I know I read elsewhere, possibly in a games magazine somewhere or something. Admittedly I may have unintentionally made it sound like complete fact, when it cannot really be proven, all I meant was people are assuming a PC version does not exist at all, but I think its likely that one exists in some form or another. Perhaps it is something worth looking into.
Yes I am well aware anyone can alter the article, but I am also aware someone looks after each one and are notified of any changes. So I still think it must have came from somewhere... ...like I said the other cancelled stuff has been mentioned in magazines and stuff. If I find any other mention of it ill post it up. Point stands though, no one can say for definite either way whether or not one was ever planned or ever existed in any form. I personally would bet on one being planned at some point and think it is very likely one exists somewhere.
If one existed, it would have been released. Sorry bro, it was never planned. People make up abit all the time. Do you think it was planned because SADX got a pc release? Remember SA2 was ported to the GameCube first. Anyway, when is Sega going to announce this crap? I needs to know guys.
There's no source and most of the "cancelled" versions listed are fake, so someone most likely made it up. Somehow I doubt any of these collections were coming to the GBA if they already had trouble making a Sonic 1 port. :P
If only they had sharted out '06 PC. They should at least release it on Steam now, providing they've got it somewhere 'in the vault'. They bothered to put it on Games on Demand, so why not? I mean, how many people actually bought that version, let alone made room for it on their HDD? They'd make a few bucks off of curious PC gamers (come on, the game's practically got Superman64 cred now - you have to play it just to see how much was left unfinished and untested) and the folks here who are interested in the modding possibilities. It was originally going to be ported to the Wii, but the chunk of developers who broke off to work on it decided to make Secret Rings instead, which undoubtedly added to the stress on the main team during it's hellish development.
Early promotion for '06 actually mentioned a PC version. They probably canned it because they realised the game is fucking terrible.
Thats was kinda a shame in itself, because no doubt the community would have ripped it to bits and put it back together so it can actually be played, putting Sega to total shame
Well, since we got this here and this was going around in #retro, I may as well share it with the rest of you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LATq36Kw3BE Or: how to piss off your friends in multiplayer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYCuNgl3HMw Or: Sega has bad/no bug testers.
I concur with ICEknight on this. Looking through the list of cancelled video games on Wikipedia also states the Sonic Blast (G Sonic) was being developed for the Mega Drive . Unless someone can prove to me otherwise?
Are these genuine playthroughs/glitches or have they somehow cheated? Also @minichapman - I see no mention of G Sonic for Mega Drive in the list of cancelled titles :S
Legitimate glitches. If you look in the description of the Cannon's Core video, he explains how to trigger them as well as some exploits like pause buffering. As for Final Rush? That's just exploiting the shit out of SA2's silly physics.
