As "Sonic 4", the whole thing is pretty poorly made.

Episode 2 was a major, major improvement over 1. Episode 3 with more of that similar style could've been better still, or at least on par.

Are they the ideal Sonic games? Absolutely not, but even if botched... this was the direction the franchise needed to/still needs to head in. The fact that it rapidly crashed again after Ep 2 is immensely frustrating. I would've bought Ep III. Lost Worlds is not a game I kept, and I refuse to buy either Boom title.

    Videos for Hellfire Commentaries.
I bet some time down the line, after Sega allows Taxman to remake S3K, we'll get a proper retro Sonic game straight from Taxman.

I know Jun probably knocked out a few level songs too....I guess they will be hidden for another 14 years like Sonic 3D's boss theme...

I'm still not happy that the Little Planet is still trapped by a dead Death Egg MKII....not happy at all. It needs to shake it off and go back into deep space. It made Sonic CD worth nothing....such a sad ending for such a great story arc.

I think I'm going to be pissed forever.

Or, again, Sonic the Fighters, with it's Death Egg II.

Ah, but it didn't happen! Stardust Speedway was still in Bad Future for the Sonic 4 storyline, which means that all of this happened in an alternate "Bad Future" Universe, independent of the rest of the series! :v:

...At least that's what I tell myself. :ohdear: Now that I think about it, I think I'll just lump all of the bad Sonic games together in Sonic CD's "Bad Future" Universe. Makes me feel better.

Sonic the Fighters is a sequel to Sonic 4. After 4-2, Eggman traveled back up to the Death Egg mk.II and continued the work he started. Each of Little Planet's seven Zones had their resources harvested into six individual colonies, connected at one center colony. Eggman finishes his weapon, leading to the events of Fighters. This means the Death Egg mk.II and the Death Egg II are one and the same.

And remember: At the end of Fighters, Super Sonic blows it all up. Do you know what else that means?

Little Planet gets blown up along with it.

Just a matter of how long before it reappears.

I actually wish they didn't cancelled it. I really enjoyed these games. I honestly felt like playing modern Sonic in the classic Sonic games.
All that really bothered me is that we were forced to have Tails follow. Sonic Episodes are addicting for me. Having the 3rd cancelled it would be as if Sonic 3 was cancelled for me.

See, I always thought it zoomed off into space, not blowing itself up after thanking Sonic :/

I'm actually quite shocked that no one has created a "Here's what happened afterwards" parody....using the erased cut scene sound effect.

I always assumed that Sonic had altered the course of the history by setting things right in the past and therefore it altered the present, so Little Planet was no longer in the same place and it vanished to where it should be. Doesn't that make more sense given the premise of the game as opposed to the planet being destroyed?

My interpretation of what happens to Little Planet at the end of CD - if you get the good ending - is that the planet disappears and goes back to it's original orbit.

Little Planet only appears over Never Lake one month in a year, so after Sonic gets all the time stones, defeats Eggman and destroys the chain tethering Little Planet to Earth, it goes back to it's original orbit, thus vanishing from site.

As for Sonic 4 Ep2's ending - if you can call it an ending - I guess Little Planet is still trapped inside the Death Egg, whilst Sonic and Tails have disabled the Death Egg and just left Little Planet for some reason. The story really doesn't make any sense. It's always annoyed me how in Death Egg MkII acts 1&2 there is no indication that Little Planet is enclosed inside. You can see Earth in the distance, but there is no sign of Little Planet when you're in the Death Egg. The only sighting we get - I think - is in White Park.

It's a shame they never made an Episode 3, and even more so considering they briefly made contact with Taxman about working on the episode. Personally I'm not a fan of Episode 1. I've never like the momentum-less physics. I like Episode 2 a lot more, although it's still got it's share of problems. I would have liked a third episode just to round off the trilogy.

I figured the Death Egg Mk. II Zone itself was the end result of Stardust Speedway, personally.

I'm seeing a lot of comments about Episode 2 being better than one - is this the general consensus? I found it worse. Personally, I found the team gimmick to be dreadful, it was forced on you a lot of the time which stops you dead, and just gets in the way. I thought the level design was marginally better (still shit though) but if I had to pick one to torture myself with, it would easily be the first episode. I know it's like chosing between slicing your wrists or your throat, but if I can finish Episode 1 but can't bear the second, something went wrong.
