You best be joking. Otherwise, you're exactly what kind of person I was talking about. Congrats for proving my point! The placement of Tails' tails means SHIT to the game's quality. They tried to mimic how it was in the classics in a realistic way, and that falls flat. Who gives a shit? Lower-quality models? Fuck are you blind! Polygon Jim has PROVEN that the Sonic 4E1 model was the Unleashed model, and this one's the same one! With better textures, at that! How can the model being the same model be worse?! The only thing that could be worse is the textures, like with S4E1! But the textures this time look pretty on par with Generations HD to me, at least for Sonic and Tails. As for the pupils thing, that whole colored vs black eyes complaint is meaningless. It's a different design based off an entirely different artistic direction and style, deal with it. That's not an aesthetic standard, that's a subjective aesthetic preference! Vaginas for mouths? Hah, too laughable of a complaint to even comment on. It's looked that way for the 3D renders for years! Trees growing out of shingles? There are several issues you could have voiced, but something so minor and nitpicky? Wow! What a big deal. You're not gonna notice this shit when running at fast speeds at 60fps! Who honestly stops to look at every little graphical problem in a stage? Skyrim has a lot of bugs and graphical issues too! That's a mainstream, triple-A game with high scores, mind you! No game is perfect, not even the Classics! This very site documents technical issues with the classics on its wiki.
I wonder if there's really no connection between Fan Remix being discontinued indefinately put on hiatus and this new game... Part of me is wishing that Taxman isn't the only Retro-er currently working for SEGA. In any case, I'm fairly sure that Sonic Fan Remix is at least responsible for the radical change of looks for Episode II, I still remember some gaming sites mentioning how a fan project put Episode I to shame. For all we know, a different Episode II might have been in the works or even completed before the delay.
Damn, the last couple pages are nothing but bullshit arguments that don't contribute to anything and need to be deleted. Can we stop belittling people over a God Damned VIDEO GAME? If you want the game BUY IT. If you don't want it DON'T BUY IT! They obviously fixed the issues from last time and it always hard to discern the true quality of a game from motionless screenshots! Look at this: "Parts of a game gets leaked" --> People Bitch --> "Promise of game fixes" --> People Bitch --> "Game released with fixes" --> People Bitch --> "Sequel addresses all prior bitching" --> People STILL Bitch --> "Sequel released" --> Bitches buy anyway, and still Bitch. I call this shit the Sonic FAN Cycle. Keep it up and it'll be just like the 2nd half of the 90s again......with NOTHING.
I'm only upset that many fans ( with unfinished projects) have more to bring to the table than what Sega's offering quality wise in an official capacity, . Its just sad that a big company with the manpower cant even match a few fans in that regard,, thats the point I was trying to make.
You know, you keep saying this like if Sega and only Sega is guilty of this. Protip: everyone does it. In the commercial world, the first rule is to "cut it out" so the game can be released in time. Skyrim, as Shade Vortex said, is a great example. Look at all those Oblivion mods or the Skyrim mods which will be released during the year: a lot of them have way better textures/models/quest compared to the finished product. So "why can't Bethesda with all that manpower match the work of a few fans?"
The game looks nice so far. Time to see it in motion. I wonder if Sonic and Tails can be playable separately. I hope so.
A human being with an independant mind had to sit down and think 'I am going to put a tree in these shingles, that is what I am going to do.' It was not randomly generated. Someone had to do this and think it was a good idea. This is what we are dealing with. Just like the vagina, just like the pupil tails. Anyone with a degree of sense knows what a mouth is, or which end of the body a tail grows from, or that trees do not grow out of shingles. And no, Skyrim is not a good game. Throw it out there with Lady Gaga and AIDS. Popular =/= good.
Replaced, fixed, either way they were complaints that were addressed that made a positive impact on the game. They did all they could in the time they had thanks to the leak. Episode 2 goes many steps further in addressing the things they couldn't in the short turn aroundtime they had....but it doesn't explain why it's taking almost two years on four zones.
While I did like the last batch of Sonic Games, The Hedgehog could have a rest, I mean I bet there are being released about 3+ Sonics games this year. 4-2, All-Stars 2 and the usual main game at the end of the year. Sega it's treating the cow a little better, but it still milking it as hell.
I don't think we'll be seeing another main game this year. 4-2 will likely hit in May as the pulled Xbox LIVE description detailed, and ASR 2 will probably release in time for the Holiday season. This year will probably be like '07 or '09. A few spin-off games, but no main-release. (Unless you count Sonic 4 installments as a main release, of course)
I'm honestly hoping our treat this year is Generations DLC. I'd take that over a new game any day of the week.
Same here! Generations is a winning formula as far as I'm concerned, and I'm worried how much of that will be sacrificed in the next game for the sake of Iizukas "innovations".
To be fair, Sonic 4 looks, plays, and sounds like ass. I enjoyed it, and it's not really the abomination everyone makes it out to be, but it's very forgettable. The problem is when they attach the Sonic 4 moniker to it, peoples' expectations are going to be through the roof, but it is as you've said "nothing but little filler games." Say someone was commissioned to build a skyscraper, and they end up building a house. The construction guys wouldn't say "Well, it is a pretty darn fine house," they'd be pissed. They subject themselves to a whole new level of scrutiny by pitching it as a sequel to Sonic 3. If they had called it Sonic HD and said "This is a quick little throwback to our favorite levels in Sonic 1 and 2 with a couple new twists" and sold it for like 5 bucks it would have been fine. But it's not, and they sold it for 15 dollars because they knew people would pay for a Sonic 4. Episode II seems to be better but I'll wait to see it in motion first.
pelikan13 said he would be taking an indefinite amount of time off from the project and might go back to it at some point. He never stated that it was formally cancelled.
