That's no snail, that's a hermit crab. It does look pretty cool, though. Glad to see some original content.
As long as for Episode II they actually remember that the badniks have to be changed from paper for the final game. They forgot last time round!
Pretty sure that's the Marble Garden wheel, with a deadly twist. Like the springy spikes in Sonic 3. So, yay new stuff! and baw rehash! I guess.
Makes me wonder what they'll be doing with the levels themselves. Here's hoping for a Quartz Quadrant-esqe level.
Might have something to do with budget or that Episode II's a 2D game. Who knows, maybe we'll see some cooler stuff if they're updating every week. That Badnik's pretty cool though. I wonder if it's going to appear in the same Zone with the wheel gimmick.
You know, looking at that last image now, we never did see that platform at any point in the game. At least, we never saw it in Mad Gear (where it would fit on theme alone) or Casino Street (where it fits by color.)
To be fair you're comparing big enviorment and character design art to like, props. I don't think a tree or a wheel or going to need super-high details.
I also doubt that is a scan of a sheet from their development, its one final that is coloured in. I'd love to see the entire development of Sonic 4... I doubt there is that much though compared to this (believing that this one will not rehash as much).
Even the damn grind rail concept art in Generations was more interesting. The point is, why are they showing us the most mundane concept art they can find? If there is great environment art, why aren't they showing that instead of "LOOK AT THIS FUCKIN' WHEEL MAN"?
I've found these dates inside the JPGs, whatever they really mean: Hermit crab: "2011-05-10T22:47:05+09:00" Colored wheel: "2011-11-25T14:04:34+09:00"
So do you guys think they'll fix the spindash sound? I'm being totally serious too because this almost made me nerd rage a controller through the screen. I literally turned sound off for almost the entire game.
Once upon a time a shit ton of PC games used joysticks. Then flight sims died out. Gamepad standardization is nice, but it isn't new, just resurgent. Just sayin'.
Huh, an enemy that appears like you'll have to roll into. Fascinating development. Oh and a Marble Garden reference. Any reference to Marble Garden... besides Bubbles, is ok with me. Funny how they're using Sonic 3 stuff this time around, last time all we got that bat bot and bubbles...
