Bean, at least, originates from Dynamite Dux (where it's spelled phonetically, "Bin"), not Sonic the Fighters.
Not so much, actually- the Dynamite Dux were Bin and Pin, a blue and a red one. Bean, the green one, was created for Fighters, likely as a homage. Right right back on thread

Wasn't Bean actually the son of Bin, anyway? I can't remember where I read that, though, so it might be incorrect...
Ok, just finished the game with all the chaos emeralds and all the red rings for... nothing? Seriously, Sega? Not even a congratulation screen? Not even a secret ending? nothing? Well, fuck you.
That reminds me of Sonic Heroes, get all A's? unlock hard mode, beat hard mode? Fuck all lol Seriously, whats the point in red rings of you don't get anything?
Watch them release a DLC pack that adds a Super Sonic stage and then a "To Be Continued" screen for the low price of $7.99. Otherwise, just achievement fodder.
Well... What bothers me is that we mentionned that when the game was leaked. So Sega has to know about this, right?
Bin is the phonetic spelling of Bean in japanese. And Bean's alternate costume is blue with a red bowtie. It's outstandingly obvious that he's the same character.
"7 servers are the chaos emeralds" blah blah blah. Since Sonic 1, it's been hammered over and over again that there are 7 chaos emeralds. No more, no less. But Trakker is right. You can make an argument for Fighters being canon. It'd be a contrived argument, but whatever. Moving on?
To be fair, you could argue that Sonic Adventure isn't canon because he has GREEN EYES. At the end of the day, it's a fighting game that uses an extra emerald for gameplay purposes, so at the end of the day, who cares? Does it really matter whether or not it falls within the plotline? Sonic doesn't need an intricate plotline, It's not like Metal Gear or Uncharted where the canon is important. With Sonic, each game is a thing within itself, and the only thing that matters is if the plot works within the game.
These Special Stages are a lot more fun on the XBOX than on my outdated laptop. The 7th stage was royally pissing me off yesterday, but I rocked its tits off on XBLA. Episode Metal was pretty cool (but also pretty short), and I'm really enjoying the game as a whole. Even SFZ1 wasn't such a piece of shit. It's just better all around on the console, at least in my case. I gotta agree with you guys though, it's pretty lame that there's no real reward for getting all the Red Rings. There's a "Download Content" option on the main menu, but I guess the only thing that's going to show up there are costumes and toys and such. Bummer, but I may just have to use some of my remaining points on the Special Stage item.
Sonic 4 Episode 2 is only $10.94 on Green Man Gaming. Best deal I've seen. And hey, use my referral code and I think we both get $2 back on it. If not, just go to the main site.
Agreed. There really is no point trying to fit everything into canon. Next there'll be some speculation on how the mountain which has Sonic engraved on it from Daytona USA fits into the story. Look at it from the Mario perspective. You have Super Mario Bros. 1,2,3 & World. All is well except OH NOES where does Super Mario Kart fit into this?! It's a contradiction to when Mario was a demolition man, world athlete, fighter and dancer! My point is, you really shouldn't give a damn if a fighting game starring Sonic had 8 emeralds or not! I've stopped worrying about story anymore. EDIT: A better example of story arc is the Megaman series. you have Megaman 1-10. Then Megaman X which is loosely based from that series. Sonic 90's 2D series & Sonic Adventure series. SA is based loosely from the 90's 2D days. NEW EDIT: What the fuck am I talking about?
Sadly yes! Lot of good that did him! Could I go back in time to a new adventure? Nah, fuck it. I wanna do a report on Julius Caesar instead! Then again Luigi got a geography adventure instead!
Just got the game. I really like it. The physics aren't perfect, but they're much, much better than before. The music, despite the synths, is pretty good. The graphics are amazing. The combo moves are fun, if a little gamebreaking. However, there are still the usual speed boosters and springs, but I don't find as annoying in this game for some reason. Not the greatest Sonic game nor superior to Sonic 3 and Knuckles, but its still really fun. Recommend by some person on the internet you don't know :v: One thing I loved were the special stages. These are my second favorite special stages in any Sonic game (behind Blue Spheres). They're challenging but not throw your controller hard. And most of all, fun.
So I woke up at 9:30 this morning to get this and they've improved most of the physics this time around, but the rolling physics are still off. And they still managed to mess up the spindash sound effect. :v: They've done much better with the layouts, and there seems to be less bottomless pits (with the exception of Oil Desert Act 1. >.<). Episode 2 seems to be a bit more difficult than Ep. 1 IMO, which isn't a bad thing, I like a challenge. (Sometimes... :v They've definitely improved over Ep.1, but there's a few things they still need to fix. :\ I have yet to play as Metal Sonic in Ep.1 though, which is something I'm looking forward to. (I'm kind of wanting to finish Ep.2 before playing as him.)
A Golden Wave down. Easier than I thought it'd be. It also helps that before the boss, you can snag a shield and several ring monitors. Add the rings the boss has around him (get them before the first hit) and you have 90 rings total. If you can survive three hits on your own then you can lay into him as Super Sonic, taking care to cancel the transformation to conserve rings where necessary. You only really need to worry about the last two hits (Super Sonic does double damage to bosses) where you need to Combo Roll into him to bust up his shield. If anything, you may have a harder time with Sky Fortress' boss, as it's trying to survive all the onslaught Metal Sonic throws at you and making sure to have 50 rings by the time the cutscene to reach the egg pod kicks in. Oil Desert is piss easy if you transform when he's about to open his hatch, hit, then immediately cancel. Just... watch out for blocks. And yes, the DEmkII Act 1 does count toward this. Go show Metal Sonic your new trick he didn't get a chance to see in Sonic CD. Also, enjoy:
