I've only done a couple acts, but I think I can say it's better than the first episode, so that's a plus I guess. Is there a way to automatically proceed through levels though? I keep forgetting to hit Y because I just assume I'm going to progress and instead I get taken back to map screen; though it's not a big deal. Just kind of inconvenient. Also Spoiler Metal Sonic's resurrection was kind of cool, just how they used the title card from Sonic CD. I liked it.
I play both Episode 1 and 2 with the keyboard and I have no problems. 3D Sonic games, yeah, a controller is needed to play it properly, but 2D Sonic games work fine with the keyboard. The default keybinds are rather bad, but it's easily changed in the config tool.
No because that will just cause them to just drop PC porting altogether. Remember they didn't even care to port Sonic games again until Generations, that was a long ass time from the last port, Sonic Riders. And no I don't care if those games sucked or not, my point stands. You have better luck just bitching to Ken about it, it worked partially for the physics.
I kinda like the Fighters design for the Death Egg 2 more. I wonder what the colored parts are for. Siphoning Chaos Emerald energy?
Can't I just say exatclly the same to you only opposite? Wasen't it made by SEGA AM2 and published by Sega. I dunno, as far as I'm concerned, Sonic game made by Sega or made by a partner studio = cannon Fans can't just decide something isnt cannon at thier own discression, it's all part of one stupid whole XD
That, and I'm pretty sure that AAUK, when he was still a community manager at SEGA Europe, deadpooled it along with Chronicles and various other spin-offs on the basis of insider info.
I don't like the idea of deadpooling games in the franchise, thats probably just me though it would seem, I even consider Chronicles somewhere is the series. You could probably make an argument for any Sonic game in the franchise to make it not cannon lol And you know that 8th emerald, there are 3 ways to fritter that away, like between sonic 1 and 2, when another Emerald was discovered, and the other way is not unlike SA2 with Tails, some sneaky jerk (probably Fang) had a fake emerald, or your clone character has a clone emerald =/ Anyway, enough of my own "waa waa's", was just trying to point summit out that I found odd, If it wasen't destroyed at the end, I'd laugh so hard if in part 3 DEmk2 came back looking like the version in STF (it probably wont) But if it does I'll have to laugh and point at the "not cannon"ers
Also, if Sonic 4 is a "direct" sequel to 3&K, then it would chronologically come before Fighters, making this Death Egg the official Death Egg Mk. II. But I'm more of the opinion Fighters is non-canon for the sake its set-up is out of that which generally takes place in Sonic. I would be playing this right now, but I've been on a 3-week trip in Germany and Austria and have no ability to get it. Is the PC version really that inferior, or will it make a good download since I'm not hooked up to Xbox Live?
The one in Sonic 4 is Death Egg Mk II. The one in Sonic the Fighters is Death Egg II. Slight difference :P
So Sonic 4 Episode II just got posted on the App Store in other parts of the world. (The US release isn't officially until tomorrow.) The good news is that it's compatible with iOS 4. The Bad News is that the game looks like this on iOS devices: Basically, the character models are fucking HUGE! On the plus side, it doesn't look like a jaggy mess like Episode I was.
Going by E-101 Beta logic, would that mean Death Egg Mk. II is made out of parts from the previous Death Egg. The scraps of the Death Egg were probably left floating in space after Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Amen to that. Not only the best level designs in the entire game, but has the best music as well, even! ACT 2 is probably my favorite. This talk about "canon" as far as Sonic games are concerned is ridiculous. Especially because the entire continuity was retconed after 1998, when there was no longer a continuity (only standalone games). To me, it feels like Sonic The Fighters is more part of the original continuity than Sonic 4 ever will be. Sonic 1 has 6. Point?
This. The one in Sonic 4 is a revision of the original, whereas the one in Sonic the Fighters is an entirely new one. EDIT: Also, it's spelled 'Canon', Trakker. Not to be a nazi, but this is a personal pet peeve of mine.
...Are we actually debating whether Sonic the Fighters fits in with canon? Not only does it have eight Emeralds, the story revolves around all of the good guys fighting each other in hand-to-hand combat for the right to use those Emeralds to go to the Death Egg so they can fight the bad guy in hand-to-hand combat. I mean, really? Sometimes a game just makes so little sense that you're kinda meant to consider it non-canon from the word "go." Fighters is one of those. Anyway, I can't play Episode II until I get my hands on an extra $15, but I had a chance to play the demo... which is not only a one-act trial, but a timed one. Blast it all. The control feels much more naturally, though, so on that point I give SEGA and DIMPs their due props.
