So the Red Rings are essentially the Silver Medals from Sonic '06? That's a shame. If nothing else, unlocking concept art at the least would have been something.
I liked Episode 1... much more than most people... probably because unlike the others, I didn't come into it expecting a return to Sonic 3. I downloaded it out of fandom for Sonic, simply saying that, as long as its better than Sonic 06 & Shadow the Hedgehog. I don't mind throwing a couple bucks at the game. I am aware its not a REAL sonic 4 (We're waiting for Sonica for that one) But its enjoyable enough. Episode 2 should be even more enjoyable than 1, and the Episode Metal add on makes me want to buy it as well. Now... if you wanna talk about dissappointing games... Final Fantasy 13 was a little bit of a downer. (One word: Linear!) But that's unrelated, I digress...
I think those just exist in replacement of regular levels, kind of like with Ep 1. My guess is one level to be replaced is White Park Act 2, and if they were to follow suit with Ep 1, Oil Desert Act 2 will be replaced as well.
Hey guys, I can confirm that the save data from the beta works perfectly with the final. I haven't spotted any gameplay differences or whatever, seems all they've done since the beta is to add in the textures that weren't implemented/failed to load (ie, some backdrops and shrubs in Sylvania Castle Zone).
This. I want to learn how to pull that off. Also, quick question: I know Logitech PC controllers aren't compatible with Beta 8, but are they compatible with the Final Build, or is it still restricted to 360 controllers?
I think they're restricted to 360 controllers. But! there are alternatives. I play with a PS2 controller pad + a usb adaptor. You can use Xpadder to configure the controller and you will be able to play it. I know some people suggested Joy2key but I think Xpadder is easier and better to configure, since I couldn't even use Joy2key for playing.
Yeah, Xpadder is easy to install and use and there's a free version out there too. Definitely get it.
Yea, The design and development individuals behind this (read: not just Dimps) are incompetent. In the horrifying, although slim, chance that Super Sonic's physics were deliberate then...they're far worse than incompetent.
Is there any difference between the last beta and the official release? I'm getting the impression that the last beta was a release candidate.
apparently no, there are no differences aside some cosmetic aspects such as fixing the textures of the leaves on Sylvania Castle. Other than that it's pretty much the same as the Beta 8.
It would be funny if they have actually pushed out Beta 8 as a final release with little changes. With the Super Sonic bug errr feature still being intact and still no good ending, surely a patch will be in order soon. But remember, Episode III is still undecided. Could have still had a good ending made though without a need for a third episode.
Beta 8 was probably more of a pre-release than a 'real' beta. A few textures fail to load 99% of the time, very occasionally the lighting in Sylvania Castle would load ridiculously bright and that's it. There's one instance of particularly poor enemy placement in Sky Fortress 2 that could be changed, but eh. It's still the full game, it works fine and like other have said the changes were only cosmetic. It's like the final is just a bug fix. Shame we've never gotten to see any older builds of either S4 Episode really. The PartnerNET and WiiWare leaks are just pre-delay release candidates too IIRC.
