SEGA are smartarses. Concept Art is up.
Oh, geez. Well, I hope now SEGA's got those pointless concept reveals out of their system. Honestly, after seeing gameplay, I don't care that much about concept art releases now. Game footage has priority over that. Still, that blog post was pretty good for a laugh.
That concept art is amazing. I really do wonder how SEGA manage to stay so fresh year on year.
WoW, Sega, just...wow.
I remember seeing that Tree Branch comment. Since we know what many of the real things look like in the game, I'm pretty much over this "concept art" stuff for now. I want a couple pieces of music from the zones. From what I hear, it doesn't sound bad, but I can barely hear it and my mind is filling in the rest of the gaps. I'm glad the latest video has LESS talking, but I don't need any at this point. I know what I'm watching, thanks.
I didn't really pay attention to the time of these updates until now. So it's Fridays weekly? I'd better write that down in my log.
But seriously, I wooden want to be in the developers' shoes right now. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree but, trying to decide what to deliver each week to keeps the fans excited? You may shrub your shoulders at that, but personally I think that would leaf me stumped.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to branch out to a different theme of concept art though.
Not forgetting the concept art from Facebook: a breakable tree trunk.
I like how Sega has now both acknowledged complaints about how boring the concept art is and confirmed that they don't give a fuck.
Indeed. It was cool when they were showing off badniks, but if you have nothing interesting to show, don't show anything. Not that hard really.
It's still a nice treat though. Most of the featured obstacles and objects affect gameplay in one way or another. Backgrounds and level design concepts would be nice, but let's face it: that would give away a lot of the content, whereas a couple of objects can leave people guessing and talking about the game without revealing that much. Not a bad marketing tool, actually. It's annoying to some, but I think it's cool.
But yeah... it was never meant to be anything more than something fun to look forward to and give fans a little something to talk about. I never hear of any other companies giving out artwork like that on a weekly basis. No, Smash Bros Brawl doesn't count! :v:
Oh, also, a competent player that's actually interested in showing us physics:

It's good to actually see how rolling functions! I'm very happy with what I just saw.
Still, there's a ton of spring trails and speed-boosters in that level. Now that there's legitimate momentum involved, at least the boosters should be superfluous, right? Oh Dimps.
Thank you, you are my hero.
Well, I'm sold. They didn't manage to fuck it up! Good job, Dimps! Now get rid of the speed boosters and I'll gladly pay for multiple copies. :v:
This is actually looking pretty good! Dimps, you're almost impressing me.
I'm actually quite happy with what I've been seeing, but the concept art made me want to draw this. All in good fun though.
hahahaha "game isn't even on this angle" I think that every picture they show.
That tree concept art blew me away. I seriously am at a loss for words.
Anyway, that footage is looking great. If only Kogen and JasonChrist were here to see this... :v:
I like the concept art, especially after seeing the blog post where SEGA trolls that guy. I don't understand the big problem with the concept art. Not all concept art has to be exciting, but I like the art direction in this game and it's an interesting angle.
This footage looks good? It looks mediocre at best. It's like when you've had diarrhoea and your shit returns to being solid, it's an improvement but it's still shit. The level design just fails to look enjoyable and Sonic still doesn't pick up momentum when rolling down a slope.
Well the game has 3D levels now. They need that angle so they know how its going to look on all sides when they model it.
That seriously just saved the game for me. With this addition, I feel a lot more confident I can actually have legit fun in this game. Thanks for the update, and I'm easing better into these additional Tails/Sonic team functions after seeing it in action more, and how to specifically use it.
