Talk about selective truth telling... You didn't even show the evil demented Sonic man or the creepy human Sonic figures... Tisk, tisk.

Yeah, I was kind of a bastard with that post. >_> Sorry. I still find that Photoshop to be much worse than any of those images.

    Haha fair enough.

Don't worry, I will refrain from making creepy Sonic photoshops.

Back on topic: For those of you that have managed to collect 999 lives in Sonic 4, (I'm nearly there) does it stay at 999 or still go back down?

In the Wii version, are the Act Clear and Game Over jingles direct rips from Sonic 3? They sound a lot more like them, at the very least.

In either case, I'm not sure why they're so different—read: more retro sounding—to those of the XBLA/PSN versions.

Probably to give people a reason to buy the Wii version? I can't think of any other reason why they'd give the Wii tracks slightly different instruments.

Possibly Memory constraints. Remember, a Wii title can only be 45 Megabytes, where as 360 and PS3 can be much much larger. Isn't it something like 200 MB for an XBLA game?

Yeah, but if they're direct rips, they would still be recordings and thus use the same amount of space, which is negligible in the case of such short tracks—hence my lack of understanding as to why they bothered replacing them. Most economical would be ‘MIDIs’ like the other tracks, and if they are implemented thusly it calls into question Jun's excuse that he couldn't find a Mega Drive synth (though Scarred Sun has hinted that's no longer an issue).

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but the Sonic 4 website now has a Mad Gear Zone theme, including a few badniks. Still waiting on Asteron and Crawl to complete the set.

Would I be wrong in saying that this game is a little too hard for beginners?

Quite a lot of reviewers bitch it's too easy except the last boss. With the exception of the last boss, about half of my deaths in the game were from falling into a bottomless pit. >_> It took me a while to get used to Sonic 4's jumping physics so that certainly contributed to some of my deaths.

Absolutely. The game is pathetically easy. The final boss has an unexpected difficulty spike, but that's it.

Hmmm... Splash Hill and Casino Street were rather easy, but I could possibly see the game becoming too hard for beginners by Lost Labyrinth.

Lost Labyrinth as a whole was seriously not-difficult. The only level I really had a problem with was Mad Gear 2.

We already knew that. Or at least I did, 'cause I bought it.

It's not bad, but it's certainly worse than the Xbox 360 version. Although I had a good laugh at spindashing upside down at the top of a loop.

I do enjoy how Super Sonic has the invincibility music instead of his terrible theme from the console versions, however.

The schedule came out for my upcoming shoot in LA and it's an early morning deal, which means I have the entire afternoon and evening open.

Therefore, I will be in San Francisco on the 12th for the community feedback thing. I've never been to San Fran, so this is going to be really fun. Check The Sonic Stadium for my report. It's times like these I wish I had a state of the art camera instead of state of the art location audio equipment. Let's see if a friend can't swing me a favor.
