Not sure if anyone noticed, pretty much since you'll home into these and move on without fucking with them, but the pulleys are actually controllable with the D-Pad. Pretty cool feature, but not one you'd need.

So... I'm starting to get a crazy idea about us making retro tags and invading the leaderboards. Example, on PSN, make a name like Retro_Dannyboy, and have other PSN members join me and we take some of the leaderboards by storm. I dunno... It seemed cool. lol

PancakePanda (my actual PSN) is currently working on invading those boards!

    Splash Hill Act 3: 5th
    Casino Street Act 3: 8th
Casino Street Boss: First (but a bajillion have accomplished this already...)
    Lost Labyrinth Act 2: 3rd
E.G.G. Station Boss: 1st (with currently only five others)

Seriously... We could cover the leaderboards with Retro!

    :-P

Just being silly I guess. I'm loving this game. Sorry to all the haters. :-P

EDIT: These are score attack rankings. Haven't really tried much in Time Attack yet...

  5. That's crazy, why in the hell...
Oh well, we got an underwater level. Take what you can get.

Fixed. (Although there weren't many videos of it to choose from)
I thought SPA was wonderful, despite the weird nub-stick on the NGPC. The physics were decent and they did a good job copying the style of the old levels. (Sometimes too much)

It actually makes sense and I'm glad they did that. Super Sonic can't suffocate in space either so he shouldn't drown.

    I think Naka Programed that.

One thing we can take away from this is that it takes a long time to kill the bosses in Sonic 4. I'm actually fine with having more elaborate boss fights, and having them work a little bit more like a platform fighting game. I like the "hey it's a boss you've seen before... but with a NEW SURPRISE ATTACK" theme they were toying with.

Still, it's not an excuse for skimping on the levels. They don't need to be longer, but there should have been more.

He did. And pocket adventure was fucking AWESOME. I have half a mind to dig out my NGPC the next time I'm back home... I played the shit out of that game.

that video is awful- is there a non laggy NGPC emulator out there or did that person's capture program just suck?

I could only find 3 videos of Neo South Island on YouTube. The first had someone talking, the 2nd had "unregistered hypercam" in the corner, and then this one. All 3 had shitty framerates.
I think I should record my own and fix this right now...

Hey I finally got the last chaos emerald. My trick? Pausing and unpausing the game in the special stage as I slowly and gradually maneuvered through the stage. Game complete. Time attack time!

I think you're getting confused. He did not program SPA (I think he confirmed somewhere that he stopped programming after NiGHTs). Y. Nakatsuka (Yumiko Nakatsuka) is who you're thinking of, who works for SNK.

Just beat the final boss, and was rather disappointed that it's the + - Sonic 2 final boss.

Yes, I'm sure you guys already knew that months ago. But still, ugh... this isn't Sonic 4, it's Sonic 1 1/2.

More like Sonic 2 1/2, but I totally see what you mean.

About Dimps, even though I haven't played Pocket Adventure, does anyone remember how Sonic Advance 1 had new(ish) zones, new(ish) enemies, the enemies were zone-exclusive just like S3&K, new bosses, and had all the characters Sonic 3 & Knuckles had, plus an extra (though Amy kinda sucks). And the physics to me seem spot on the Genesis titles, the only difference I could find is the bounce height from jumping off an enemy. Meanwhile, Sonic 4 has Green Hill, Casino Night, Labyrinth, and Metropolis as it's main zones, no new enemies, Bubbles appears in every zone, all bosses are old, and has only Sonic as the playable character. And of course weird physics. Only problem I have with Sonic Advance is lack of Super Sonic in regular levels, and the small zones.

If Sonic Advance was ported/remade on Genesis/Megadrive (similar to the "Sonic 4 Genesis" hack), and if I had no knowledge of the official Sonic 4, I would believe this to be the real Sonic 4. Heck, if they used the graphic style from the classic games on Sonic Advance, I would have had no problem with them calling it Sonic 4.

As a standalone game, Sonic 4 isn't really that bad, but the fact that they had the balls to call this Sonic 4 is... ugh... the game is undeserving of it's title. It's easy to play Sonic 2 and think of it as a true sequel to Sonic 1. It's easy to play Sonic 3 & Knuckles and think of it as a true sequel to Sonic 2. It's very easy to play Sonic 4 and think of it as a downgrade to Sonic 3 & Knuckles. And it's easy to play Sonic Advance and think of it as a sequel to Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

This is gonna have to be parroted endlessly. The game is Sonic 4: EPISODE 1. Episode one out of at least three. Just episode 1 is already about as big as Sonic 3 (actually has a larger act number). The whole game is fixing to be twice the length of S3K at this rate or something.

Besides, if I remember correctly, Sega said that they were revisiting the old standbys in Episode 1 and doing different stuff in the others. I could be remembering incorrectly on that though.

Holy shit. Our fanbase has serious issues (besides the whole furry thing). Say something wrong about Sonic 4 and your Satan himself.

Just because someone has a negative opinion on something, doesn't make a positive one right.

Also, "IGN SAYS ITS GOOD THAT MEANS ITS GOOD!"

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album

You can't compare speedrun times like that. Sonic 3 has been out for more than 16 years, and Sonic 4 has been out for less than 16 days. I think Sonic 3 speedruns are a bit more polished than what's currently on the Sonic 4 leaderboards.
