Pacing yourself on the fourth boss works wonders at least. Just don't make any hasty moves unless you are certain you can deliver a decisive strike. For the third boss, you can get a free hit if you stand on the edge of the screen as the two columns go up and jump for Robotnik. For the final boss, jumping into him and then homing attacking him lets you rack up hits very quickly. He raises his arms when this happens, so back off for a few seconds. In Pinch mode, attack the hand when it hits the ground. If lasers are coming toward you, don't risk it. Just dodge them. If he's firing the large laser, jump over the ground damage wave. The beam itself won't hurt. Charge the Spin Dash when he's doing his haters gonna hate walk and let go of it as he skips off the ground relatively near you. Try to keep the mecha in the corners. For the final hit, watch the cursor closely and jump as he punches the ground as to not get stunned by the shockwave. Homing attack his head for the killing hit.
Can someone tell me how I'm supposed to get the last hit on the final boss without taking damage? I haven't actually got to this part while going for the Untouchable achievement, but it would be nice to know. This is hard, I fucked up twice when I got to him by being stupid and another by being in a bad place.
Ya I did this earlier tonight too. I thought it was odd that there were exactly 36 rings in ESZ, I kept wondering "why didn't they give you 50? That would have been a cool prize for playing excellently..."
I actually find that Homing Attacking it while it's in the air produces a better effect; if you're far enough away from the boss and attack it from the side closest to Eggman, the Homing Attack's rebound brings you right over to the boss so you can start wailing on him. Things get hairy when he starts shooting lasers, though. Question! What the hell do I do about him using his "Haters Gonna Hate" walk AND firing laser blasts at the same time? This is the sole reason I have not yet gotten the Untouchable achievement. Addendum: don't attack until the punch animation has actually ended, otherwise you'll probably take damage. Further addendum: don't hesitate to attack. If the floor collapses mid-Homing-Attack, you fly right on through the boss and die. This is possibly the most insulting way to fail at this stage.
Okay, I'm currently friggin' stuck on the Lost Labyrinth Act 2 puzzle with the four torches and the four pillars. Someone care to enlighten as to how to get past this puzzle?
If you want to work it out yourself, try lighting one of the torches, and observing exactly what effects it has. You'll find the answer pretty quickly. If you're too lazy, + - light the fourth one, wait a few seconds, light the third one, and then climb up to the exit . The small laser blasts? You should be fine just stepping forward a little before charging the spindash. The big one? Jump over the area the beam targets, and charge a spindash VERY quickly. Or just retry and hope it doesn't happen next time.
Are you Super Sonic? If so...Light up the third one from the left and jump up. I've only gotten past this as Super Sonic. Never playing the level again unless I want to listen to it's music.
If you have Super Sonic, then light the middle one (which brings out the ledge) and then just jump up onto it, avoiding the others. If not, you have to avoid lighting the torch that lights up the whole room (the first one I think), hit the torch that makes the stepping-stone come up and the barrier for the ledge come down, and then hit the torch that makes the ledge come out a second later (because that one closes the quickest). I hated that crazy shit and ended up dying due to time the first play.
If anyone's playing the iPod version and trying to beat E.G.G Station without getting hit, you do know that as long as you haven't pressed start to access the menu and you haven't died, you can touch the physical 'home' button on the iPod, reboot the game, and it allows you to restart from the last checkpoint, with rings and score all there.
I FINALLY DID THE EGG STATION ACHIEVEMENT. Actually, it got easier towards the end since I had all of their attack patterns memorized. Yes, the Metropolis Boss and the final boss both have patterns. Still, glad I am to have that over with. -3-
Because nobody's explaining it in detail... the bottom left torch simply lights up the room. The top left torch seals the room, so you have to avoid hitting it. The bottom right torch brings out a platform beneath the exit but it doesn't stay out for long. The top right torch brings up a pillar to get on to the platform beneath the exit. Hit the bottom left torch first so you can see around. Then go for the upper right one, wait a few seconds then go for the bottom right one. If you don't wait for long enough the platform to reach the exit will retract before you get a chance to stand on it. Just be sure not to hit the one of the top left- all it does it stop you from leaving.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. That was so annoying until I figured it out, then I felt kind of stupid.
It took me one time over to do it. Kinda went on the assumption that it was just a case of lighting the torches in the correct order, not that it would include a bit of timing and leaving one torch unlit. I'm not sure if it was too harsh or well designed though.
I really like them. They're pretty much the same as the old Taito game, Cameltry, which the bonus levels from Sonic 1 were more loosely based on. I'm a big fan of Cameltry.
I like the special stages, and the torch puzzle confused me for a moment but then I realized it was a puzzle, kinda' like a Resident Evil puzzle actually. Also happy, got number one spot on the 360 version of Casino Street 1. Almost number one on some of the others too, just got to shave a few seconds.
I know speculation is banned, but did anyone else smile when + - Sonic takes a rocket with Tails' emblem on it up to E.G.G Station ? Yesterday when I was playing with a friend we got to talking about Sonic standing on slopes and not even the ridiculously steep ones. Just how he's always angled perpendicular to the ground when standing. Nobody would lean or be able to balance like that. This is 2010, couldn't they have made him stand up straight and just hold his feet at a different angle?
There were points in Lost Labyrinth Zone that made me think "this is kind of like Lava Reef Zone". That's pretty much when I realised I was actually really enjoying Sonic 4.
