And then SEGA taking all of those changes and patching all versions of the game calling it the "Classic Patch" and claiming it as their own? :P Actually, I'd be OK with that.
Sorry to be cynical here, but I suspect the reality will be more like "Oh. We mildly improved the physics, but here's more of those horrid plastic graphics and those bad synths because we here want to be consistent with our cheesy and fake retro concepts." It won't be bad, just probably disappointing. Again. Only this time, with more hype. Or maybe SEGA will do a 360 and change everything, but I've never seen them do such a thing before, ever.
Honestly, the fact that it's on PC means nothing in terms of modding. It just means that it saves more time than rebuilding a WAD of the Wii version for example.
God, I hope not. The hype is probably what hurt Sonic 4 the most in the beginning, promotions ramming clues about rolling and stuff in your face and calling it Sonic 4 when it was a low budget nostalgia title. I'm keeping expectations for Episode 2 kinda low to avoid disappointment, even after games like Generations. Generations 3DS gives me hope they further tweaked the engine to resemble the old games, and all the time and the slight listening to complaints from Episode 1(like removing the minecart stage in the consoles) makes me hope they handle level design and music better, but I'm not expecting anything looking like Generations, especially if it's still going to be released on the Wii and various mobile systems as well.
So when exactly are we supposed to finally hear about Episode 2? If CD is out tomorrow, then that leaves a possibility for this weekend or sometime over the winter break?
I remember seeing Ken Balough saying he could drop some hints on Episode 2 once CD came out, so that could mean tomorrow. It'll be on the SEGA forums if he does. /inb4 "Who doesn't?" response
Really don't get your hopes up for this Once Sonic CD is out implies any period of time- and to be honest, from a PR point of view, advertising something else the day a game comes out isn't good- they'll want to be showing off Sonic CD and talking about that, give it a week or two minimum!
How about we leave the mindless speculation and Sonic 4 bashing until after Balough says something about Episode II, hm? =P
Eh. If I wanted to play Sonic 4, I've already got it on the Wii. If you didn't like Sonic 4, nothing short of a from-the-ground-up redesign and retooling will change that. Change the physics if you guys want, but then you'd also have to change the level design to reflect it. And will it have the homing attack or not? Another consideration to make when thinking about redesigning the game. The visuals and music are another story, and what if you would rather Sonic 4 had not consisted of borrowed tropes and level gimmicks from previous games jacked up to ridiculous repetition? Now you're talking about a completely different game. Don't get me wrong, though. If someone remakes Sonic 4 from any angle, I'll probably enjoy it. But not because I hate Sonic 4 and need it to be replaced. I'd rather just enjoy it for what it is and not get hung up on it, even if it is disappointing compared to its prequels. It's just not that bad. Episode 2 may or may not be another story, but I think we should've all learned from Ep1 to lower or otherwise reconsider our expectations for it. Unless you love to be disappointed. tl;dr I'm open for a reinterpretation of Sonic 4, but not if it consists solely of bettar physiks.

Well, their self-imposed barrier to information revelations is lifted, yes, but that doesn't mean they'll announce everything right away. Besides, it's not out on PSN (in the US) or Steam, yet.
I'd expect news on this in the new year. We're at that fun time right now where we only know of one Sonic game in development. The rest is a mystery.
Ken said once Sonic CD has mostly released on all formats then he will start talking. But at the same time SEGA won't tell us the dates of when the other SCD formats will be out, so were stuck in a loop for awhile.
Start preparing your bodies gentlemen. http://forums.sega.com/showthread.p...r-Episode-2!&p=6993637&viewfull=1#post6993637 http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?390208-Ken-it-s-time!&p=6993699&viewfull=1#post6993699 We'll be getting our hint as to where to look for Episode 2 news very soon. Let's hope we can make it through Round 2 of Sonic 4 with fewer casualties. He also mentioned a Flux Capacitor somewhere. Possible hint?
