Egg Stations audio files call it the Death Egg. They probably just used a new name later on so they wouldn't get bitched at for rehashing.
Really? That's just awesome right there. Does that apply for every level in the game (Like is Splash Hill Zone listed as Green Hill in the files?) But if they didn't want to get bitched at for rehashing then they should have made the entire episode rehash... that and the last I checked Death Egg Zone didn't look like a turquoise egg carton... Oh and those speed runs actually make the game look really good.
Yep. Before the announcement of the game even. It's a shame. Splash Hill has me thinking water and E.G.G. Station made me think of trains, like those concept design for the Egg Carrier.
I remember when I first heard the name E.G.G Station, I thought we were gonna get something like Bullet Station, but in 2D and in space (or a 2D Final Rush type level). :v:
I thought Splash hill was going to be some cool combination of Green Hill Zone and Sunset Hill Zone from Sonic Advance 3. I was wrong though...
Sonic Advance 3 had a really cool underwater zone. It was a bit like Labyrinth Zone mixed with Scrap Brain Zone with the enemies from Oil Ocean. It was epic. Hey, I played it, and beat it One of the most awesome games ever made. Real old school, with an overall feel similar to Adventure 2. The Death Egg's revival was pretty awesome. Some of the comments the characters made really concreted the fact that the Death Egg is definitely the biggest threat to the Sonic world. It was huge, had a massive canon, and also had some kick arse music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQnft156fgU...feature=related Dimps made Sonic Battle, along with whoeever else made the Advance series. Basically, Battle established that Tails doesn't live in his workshop- that's why it's called a workshop, Holy Summit is Mystic Ruins/Angel Island, but named so because it's more of a part of Angel Island more than anything, and basically, to sum it up, the whole game takes place way after Shadow The Hedgehog, due to a load of references that are given throughout. This game, Sonic Advance 3, and the resulting series seem to take place a long, long time after Sonic Heroes and Advance 2 etc. For more info, please have a read through my profile page :v: Also, about the Emeralds, they were all green, because RPG's and things usually just group similar items together. Because it's a "Chaos Emerald", it's just one generic sprite. All you needed to know was that there were 7 Chaos Emeralds (Which there were). That is pure orgasm in a bucket. Having said that, I'm glad it wasn't called Death Egg, it looked nothing like it internally or externally. In fact, I'm just assuming it was a place holder name before they came up with the really well thought out E.G.G Station, which must have taken years to think up. They obviously had Death Egg on their mind- look at the end boss. Death Egg's basically become the standard model for end levels in Sonic, in the same way Green Hill Zone has for the opening stage.
Actually you're right, but Egg Station really mixes it up a lot! Death Egg had really light bluey-grey floors, and that was about it. At least for it's first incarnation.
I know....it turned out to be a combination of Green Hill Zone, Sunset Hill Zone, AND Emerald Hill Zone...I am SO Disappoint! Btw, when I see E.G.G. Station in the world map....it reminds me of a robotisized Angel Island.
Well I meant Sunset hill because of its inclusion of water slides and underwater parts, thus, you know, the "Splash" part
I don't know why, but I always thought that it resembled a football stadium. Yeah I dunno. Maybe Sonic 4 isn't going to follow the "spherical spaceship" gimmick?
0.0 Now that you pointed it out, no you're not. The Death Egg was a reference to the Death Star, so it's not like they've never made references with their big spaceships before (I highly doubt it in this case though).
Frieza confirmed for Episode 2 boss :v: But seriously, I noticed that resemblence too, pretty funny actually
I'm sure the map graphic of EGG Station was made after the leak, so at the time they were calling it death egg I doubt they had that shape in mind (or any shape at all since there was no world map)
I never did post my thoughts on this game, so I guess I may as well. Well, I got it around a month ago from now, and I must say, it's pretty good. The levels have a good flow to them and do a good job of encouraging both speed and platforming, neither of which feel forced to me, most of the time. The act-specific gameplay mechanics offered me a more fun and varied experience than Sonic Colors (). While there are a few somewhat questionable pits (namely the one in Splash Hill Act 3 and the somewhat dodgy platforming section in Casino Street Act 2) there aren't enough for it to really be a problem for me. The physics feel weird at first, but I got used to them quickly. The lack of momentum inertia does break the flow sometimes though, and is especially noticeable when trying to speedrun certain levels. It doesn't really feel too short to me - you can beat it in one sitting, just like the classics, which is part of what makes them so replayable for me. I kind of wish the bosses didn't have separate acts, though. Overall I don't really see any major flaws with Episode 1, but I agree that it still feels like a shell of a game. In that regard, I can't wait to see what Episode 2 and 3 bring, assuming we'll be past the "re/introductory" phase and there will be a lot more new content. Oh yeah, and the Special Stages are diabolical. Especially 5, 6, and 7. Never again please, Sega.
So with the confirmation of Tails in Episode 2 do you think that we're going to be getting Sonic 2/ Saturn 3D Blast Special Stages instead of Sonic 1's? And, with the addition of a new character, I think it throws any speculation of lock-on at least with episode 1 out the window, thank goodness. However, its raising my hopes for physics alterations. I don't want to get slammed again. But I'm a little confused about how they're going to go about this; they've already done all of the classic level archetypes for episode 1, so I'm curious to see what the first level/ last level are going to be for episode 2. It would make no sense for them to make another Emerald/Green Hill rehash, nor would it make sense to make an in-space final level. I'm really curious to see where this goes. I really hope to see some crossings of level gimmicks/ themes. I think its safe to assume this won't be a Sonic 2 re-hash, per say, because of Metal Sonic being included. I think I'm just thinking and hoping out loud.
I would like to see some actual original levels for episode 2 rather than classic rehashes. It would also be pretty cool to see the super emeralds return, along with knuckles as a playable character. I was okay with the physics, but they could maybe make the jump a bit less floaty.
