Man, I remember those things. My dad cut out the little Sonics for me, and I taped them all over my room. I even vaguely remember what those Life Savers taste like.

That's pretty nasty, though. I sure wouldn't want to eat candy that old.

Nah, I just ate one; it's regular old blue raspberry. That shit still tastes pretty good.

Did they have the Hot Rings flavor, too? Those were my favorite.

If you keep it in a dry place, it should last a pretty damn long time.

I had a Sonic food sighting about 2 years ago, never got pics though. At a local beach near Seattle, there is an ice cream vendor that sells Sonic Xtreme Ice cream. The wrapper has Sonic doing karate, and the Sonic Xtreme logo. I bought one, it's pretty good.

I recall seeing the advertisements for the promotion in the Archie comic series. Good times, good times.

Yeah, I've seen that one - I always wondered why he was in a karate uniform, and why I had no idea what "Xtreme" was three years ago.

Ehehehehe, I loved those things. Yummers.

And Lifesavers last forever. They're pure sugar. >_>

Wouldn't it be depressing if you won that "instant win" game?

Interesting! Remember also that they had Sonic Spinball, and I *think* Sonic & Knuckles too.

    Not really.

I'd STILL be like: "Gimme my game, fuckers".

  13. Yep, they had Sonic & Knuckles too, that had little hints for the game within the wrappers. :P

Woah... I haven't seen those in ages! Feels like only yesterday...

I've got to get me to that bodega ( I'm in NYC also! :D ).

They also had those cans of pasta things by Chef Boyardee which had Sonic stuff on it. I also had some of that Sonic gum stuff, which was based around the Sonic 2 GG game. Too bad I didn't retain any of it... it was plain old hard-as-a-rock gum too. The pink stuff. Card-sized.

I distinctly remember hearing that with the release of the game Sonic Jam, they released a line of actual Sonic Jam, lemme check the web and see if I can find pics...

Edit1: OH DEAR GOD NO, I could not find the pics yet, but, I turned up videos and info about the Game.com Sonic Jam, after I tried so hard to forget that game existed, it is so bad, anyone who, like me, has had the misfortune of playing the Game.com version of Sonic Jam will agree.(granted, the game.com itself was an abomination)

Actually, the pasta was Franco American.

I recall the gum. They had a Genesis and a Game Gear version -- the Genesis version had a pink plastic case in the shape of the standard 3 button controller with a slot on top that opened up to the inside so you could get at the gum. The Game Gear version was shaped like a Game Gear with a fake screen pasted on and everything. In addition to the gum, each one had very basic tips about getting through the games, like how to do special stages. Half the GG one was Sonic 2 I guess but I recall the Sonic Chaos cards a bit better. I think the Genesis one had tips for Sonic 3 in it, but I'm not sure.

That's pretty nifty that that candy is still around. That's the kinda merchandise you don't expect to be around anymore.

Sorry, but "Press the d-pad down to make sonic roll" is not a tip.

What's weird is that I doubt they are still making new ones of either these LifeSavers or X-treme pops - I can understand the life savers lasting this long, but the X-treme pops?
