Wow Titan, those mockups are great! They got my imagination going. I think it would be so epic if someone could add the flickys to this game. Let's face it, the Flickies were the only thing that made these level layouts interesting, having to go chase them when they run away. Imagine looking for them in a classic 2d sonic world!

You mean like looking for chao in Sonic Advance 3? =P

If I tell you that in my first days playing Sonic 3 I actually tried to catch the flickies, do you believe me? (lesson: never give Sonic 3 and Sonic 3D at once to somebody who doesn't know how to play Sonic)

I know what you mean, but the Flickies would be unnecessary in a 2D game. This would turn out just fine without them, what with all the custom layouts we would add.

EDIT: BUT, they could be scattered around the levels like Sonic Advance 3 and could unlock something extra.

No, I think we should keep them in. That's the whole point, right? "Sonic 3D Blast in 2D", not "Sonic Game Based off Sonic 3D".

Fine, but at east make it so once you rescue a Flicky, it does not run away if you get hit. That is what really ruined the game for me, and in 2D...I don' t think so.

  8. Wouldn't that make it way too easy? Well, I suppose the levels could be changed a bit to make them harder...

Perhaps lose a maximum of 3 Flickies at once.

BTW, is anyone actually thinking about doing the hacking side of things? There is no way this will go anywhere without a comitent hacker.

In 2d, the catching a Flicky after it runs away would be easier. 3d blast you needed to line up with it in the exact direction. In 2d it's either behind or in front of you.

The idea of a 2D conversion of Sonic 3D Blast is interesting.
Oohh Sonic 3D, except for the tunes, I don't really have a lot of good memories from that game because everytime I tried to play it, I always had the urge to vomit (not kidding).

Anyway, I suggest to adopt this style of level art:

    ...instead of this one:
...which is truly ugly and makes me sick like the original Sonic 3D.

I think that the Titan's mockup screens on the other page perfectly represents how that game should be.

Now, is this project really feasible?

  12. The second mockup was using art from Sonic Blast for the GG, which seems to have been dropped.

And for the feasability, yes, we have the money. :D

Well, seriously, it will take some time, and I think there are no hackers willing to do the hacking. I think we should stay doing art and mock-ups for Green Grove Zone until someone expresses interest.

And now, scene as I am really cocky, I will repost my purple ice-cream badnik, seen as I am pretty proud of it and haven't heard any critisism as of yet. :'(

To be fair, Flare's already looks better than mine :-P

  14. Icewarrior: What? I'm pretty sure that we're going with the art direction shown in Flare's mockup, but I may be misunderstanding the general consensus of the posters in this topic. Something needs to be done about the curved surface in said mockup, though; it sticks out like a sore thumb right now.

JakeyBoy: That looks amazing! The only thing bugging me is the feet; something looks just a little off about them, but I can't quite see to place it...

Slightly revised Eggmobile. I'm totally not happy with the shading, but I toyed around for hours and that's as good as it gets for now.

EDIT: Ignore the stray pixels at the bottom-right.

I would think that they'd have less of an outline, more like this.

Of course, that's not completely Sonic style, but you get the point. =P

The main problem with most of the ice cream/turd/whatever badnik renditions I've seen so far, is that they look too small. If it were a bit bigger that would look much better as it would allow for more detail.

I like it. However, However, the only problem I can see is he looks like he's smaller than Sonic.
