Sonic 2D Blast?

    There could be two versions:

    Version 1: Genesis hack with Genesis-only music.
    Version 2: Genesis hack ported to SEGA Mega CD with the Saturn soundtrack as a defining extra feature.

    I think version 1 would be the smartest version to make first.
     
  3. Agreed. The Genisis version will be easier to make, then it can be ported to CD/32X/whatever.

    But if they are gonna be seperate, there should be diffrent special stages, and all other diffrences included.

    You don't need to port it to Sega CD as such, though -- you can just do it the way that Flux does, be a cartridge that can access the SCD to play the redbook audio and whatnot.

    As mentioned before, Pier Solar, for example, does this.

    I say Genesis version first, with Genesis soundtrack, then port over to CD with saturn soundtrack and whatnot. Also, we still need hackers and I still need a Green grove tilesheet if I'm gonna get that act 1 map finished.

    So that you don't waste any of your time, I can already get the bridge and waterfall sprites from Sonic 2, I just need loops, backgrounds, and landscapes.

    Here's a good sprite page from The Spriters Resource, for fonts and icons and whatnot.

    Also, for Sonic's spinning sprites in Rusty Ruin, I'd say these sprite of Espio could be modified:

  9. That's not a bad find. I can get to work on the Sonic sprites tommorow, maybe, if nobody beats me to it. :psyduck:

    Actually those are also Espio's rolling/dashing frames, don't forget. It's not rotationally symmetric like the ball roll the other characters have, so wall and diagonal rolling frames have to be made.

    I'm surprised that there are only 3 for the wall, but I guess the sprite sheet maker could have just as easily missed the other 3.


    ...unless I missed something, but I'm pretty sure every jump/roll animation has been 5-6 frames.

    In Sonic 3D he doesn't face forwards. Then again, he doesn't face upwards either...

    I think the head alone was the issue. You know, it's almost vertical there; it needs to be more diagonal.

    You know, looking at the top of the door, not at the ceiling.
