Since you're going to make a bugfixed release, I'll report something I noticed since the first time I played, but I didn't report because I thought someone else would notice it as it's quite obvious.

Hitting a ? monitor while you have the speed shoes isn't the only way to screw up the stats. It also happens each time you get inside the water. As a result I've seen fat Sonic being able to make ultra high jumps while underwater.
This probably happens because the game restores the default underwater stats regardless of your current weight.

I think you should make 3 (or 4) tables of stats, one for each possible status: normal, underwater, speedshoes, (underwater with speedshoes).

 

Now that I think about it, Why not let Fat sonic just float on water since he's full of Whale Blubber.

 

How about transferring Sonic's fat to Tails with the arrow monitors?

Oh why HELL am I late, I saw the thread and was tempted to check it out, but something was holding me back, either I had other things to do, or I was interrupted by things, or just... something got in the way. Now after eventually checking it out and fighting my way through reading this huge mega thread, I'll gladly give my input.

What an impressive hack, it says what we're all thinking. The gimmick and idea behind this is pure genius, I was most stunned at the fact that you actually lose weight when pacing, so simple yet very deserving of an award of somekind, as others have noted; enter this into the hacking contest and see what it'll win! The sprites are very well done too, nice attention to detail and the animations reasonably smooth, I would assume the time taken to do them was long but well worth it, right?

+ - I think getting fat is fun.   I have yet to attempt to beat this hack, though hopefully I can beat it soon. ^^

 

A fatter person will be more buoyant in water than a skinny person. Skinny people can't float at all, while fat people float easily. It's why nearly all marine animals form a thick layer of blubber - that and the insulating properties.

So you should adjust how Sonic moves in water according to how fat he is. As he gets fatter, he gets more buoyant.

 

Yes, but it still does that if you jump out of the water from a platform just below the water level. Your high jump will last also overwater.

don't know what to say about this hack that hasn't already been said. Yet to try it, but it does seem like a very fun hack to play

Call me unlucky, if you will... But I also got stuck into Aquatic Ruin Zone 2...



I was playing on my mobile phone, jumped up on a red spring a few screens to the left of this screenshot, and fell down exactly between these two pillars...

Maybe some way to throw up would really be welcome and solve all these problems. Maybe before doing so, you would need to keep pressing down for 1 minute or something... I don't know, I'm just thinking about how to make people only use it when stuck, when no other solution is feasible. Maybe while throwing up Sonic gets completely thin, but must eat something in the next 10 seconds, else he dies. Or maybe just a suicide button would be the solution.

Of course, another solution is to just add instant-thin monitors on such places.

 

I'd imagine that's the emulator's fault.

 

I'd suggest you to take Tails with you, since he can jump higher than you if Sonic is fat. Jump and hold right (or left), so Tails can destroy the pillar.
