Sonic 2: S3 Edition

    Some Freakishly Long Anime
    The two things I've noticed so far are that whenever I enter a Special Stage using Knuckles, it just loads the art for the stage itself, and the music, and plays constantly, without anything else showing up, and I had to hard reset.
    Also, on OOZ, after beating the boss, Sonic just stood on the spring thing for the capsule after the results went away. I was able to go to Metropolis by reseting and continuing from my save, however.

    Sonic and Tails. I'm using Gens 2.11.

    Ok, this is a hack of Sonic 2, obviously, that I've been working on for around a month or so. I wanted to see if I could do this and, for the most part, got it to work. First off I want to say it's a WIP, it's more of a demo if anything. There are many graphical glitches I'm aware of, as well as a starpost bug. Emerald Hill Zone acts 1 & 2 are the only levels that work right now.
    Anyway what's include in this is..... ACT transitions! Nothing more. A few things that I haven't got to work yet include the title cards loading for act 2, the background scroll, and the starpost working properly.
    If you notice anything else feel free to let me know about it.

    After I beat Aquatic Zone Act 2, Casino Night zone's title-card loaded, but that was it. It was just frozen.

    Why am I getting stuck right after EHZ Act 2? It just sits there like it's going to do a little animation like in S3K, but doesn't.

    When reaching the very top of CPZ, the background flips out a bit.

    When standing to the left of the capsule after the results screen, Knux just walks into the capsule without jumping over it, and progress can no longer be made without resetting.

    This enemy can be walked right into with the lightning shield without either the player or enemy getting damaged.

    Same thing as above. Standing to the left of the capsule as the results tally leaves the player unable to progress afterwards.

    At the bottom of OOZ, there's a bit of blank (orange) background between the actual background and the oil.

    Once more, progress stopped. In all the other Act 2s, the character just stands around while the results screen text flies by every 25 seconds or so. The only transition I was able to make without resetting was from Casino Night to Hill Top.

    Bottom left, a random sprite of Robotnik's head flew by on the way to DEZ. There was another, dark patch of space out of place with the daytime sky that I was unable to capture in time.

    Also, it seems like a random chance whether Knuckles will be able to make the jump onto Tails' plane at the end of WFZ. In my quick playthrough, he missed it the first time but made it the next time.

    And while playing the end credits music, the percussion just seemed to crap out and stop playing, while the rest of the song played normally, with some really bad audio glitches every few seconds.

    I hope any of this helps. This hack actually looks promising. :)

    While it's not a real fix, you can get around this by using debug mode and manually positioning Knuckles on the wing. If you're like me, and you got to that point without having debug enabled, rendering your effort useless, cheat codes save the day: Sonic 3's debug PAR code, FFFFFA:0100, puts the game into debug mode as soon as it's turned on, so you can turn on debug, shift Knuckles over to the wing, then turn it off again for the final battle(s).

    While in the bonus stage, Tails legs seem to have a graphical problem:

    Another error: while fighting Robotnik in Chemical Plant Zone Act 2, I fell into the water...and didn't die. Had to wait to drown.

    Your miniboss music port isn't all that well done; the bass voice is broken
    The Hill Top intro sequence is annoying, more often than not, I fall straight to my death without ever touching the ground.
    I keep getting frozen after beating an act 2; forcing me to restart and continue to the next level through the save
    For some reason, the EHZ song and options song are using timpanis instead of toms o_O

    The HTZ->MCZ cutscene is broken; Sonic just keeps running on the loop too slowly to ever get through without falling.
