    I finished it, picked up the remaining emeralds, and now I have a savegame with everything that works perfectly.
     
  2. This Hack was really awesome, I managed beat it as Sonic and as Tails, I can honestly say that this is one of the best hacks I have played, Good Work!
     
  3. This hack is fantastic, just played the latest build and loved it. The mini-boss is really good, although the fire-jets from the underside don't hurt you regardless if you've got a shield or not (although if it did, using the fire shield, it wouldn't be a problem), Is this intentional?

    I had this problem. There's a few garbled tiles in Hill Top Zone, and one of those seesaw things was upside-down. I also had a problem with the transistion of Oil Ocean -> Metropolis. It failed, as once the scoring thing finished, Sonic just waits endlessly. Also, once I finished MZ2, it told me that Sonic has passed act 3, rather than act 2. The Continue screen is a bit garbled too.

    However, brilliant hack, I love it.

    As it has been a looong time since I updated this I decided to release the Hacking Contest build.
    Please keep in mind that I didn't have a lot of time to work on it this year so this isn't a huge update.
    It mostly fixes a lot of annoying bug issues.

    New features:
    Title Screen WIP
    Save screen art WIP
    Signpost works just like in S3&K in EHZ and CPZ
    1 new mini boss CPZ (incomplete, doesn't do anything right now.)
    New charater
    Hidden Monitors at the end of act 1 (EHZ & CPZ only)
    Currently using Sonic 1 Sound Driver
    Lots of bug fixes!

    Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but it doesn't even boot for me, all I get is a black screen?

    I tried both Gens and Kega.

    Right at the end of CPZ Act 1 there's a wall, where you can walk trough. (Above the 3 monitors).
    And if you go triugh that wall, the camera will go up and you die.

    Well this got even better. All the bugs I posted have gone, nice work.

    EDIT: Jinxed it. Metropolis Zone act 1's scoring didn't load. I'm left with Sonic's victory pose and Metropolis' music playing. I can't move either.

    EDIT 2: Sonic and Tails both look dodgy on the Special Stages, and some of the bubbles look strange in Chemical Plant Zone. I fell down the gap of that bit of CPZ2 with the water, and somehow didn't die at the bottom, I just drowned.

    Absolutely love it. Very simple idea, very well executed.

    Bugs time~

    EHZ Miniboss can still harm you when flashing from hit and after defeated.
    EHZ Act 1-2 transition noticeable.
    EHZ Act 2 Boss Robotnik doesn't have a defeated face when defeated.
    CPZ Act 1 signpost spin sparkles have one frame of wrong art.
    Item boxes after signpost have bad explosion graphics.
    CPZ Medium-Sized Bubbles have wrong art.
    In HTZ, for some reason the invincibility music carried on playing, and when I got to the end of the level, the results never showed so I was stuck there. :s
    Not really a bug, but you need to set the greys on the second palette line to match the first. It makes for some mismatching bosses/badniks right now.

    Apart from lol bugs, awesomeness.. except EHZ2's music, which is weird. :s Nice idea though.
     
  14. That happened to me in CNZ. Maybe its because Sonic isn't off screen?

    Also another bug: The special stages graphics are glitchy. Sonic's half there, Tail's tails are kinda glitchy, and the result screen is a bit messed up.

    Was it a Soonic and Tails Game?
    Also, what emulator were you using?
    No, your not. Some of these are things I never noticed. So thank you much.

    Was it in act 1 or 2? Were you Sonic? Tails? Sonic and Tails? Knuckles?
    Also, what emulator were you using?
    That was a test track that I forgot to take out. Oh well.

    Alright I got some glitches for you:

    Ashura's revenge! This odd glitch occurred after I exited a special stage with a fire shield on.

    Whoops, that's not right. Super Sonic's icon appears as soon as you've collected all emeralds. His palette adjusts to the color of the current level icon though

    If Sonic completes a stage with a ring looping throughout the level, the next act fails to load, and the end of act screen doesn't come up.

    I love the sprite you used for Sky Chase Zone for Sonic, but it doesn't quite translate to Super Sonic very well

    Despite the fact that this is a dream come true, I know that the seahorses should hurt with an electrical shield on.

    After you beat the game this is what you get. You can't pick whatever level you want to play, instead you get this...

    Also to note while playing as Sonic and Tails I failed to progress to the next level at the end of EHZ, CPZ, (This was due to me being on the wrong side of the capsule. The characters don't jump over it yet) ARZ, and MCZ. Also there are a lot of noticeable act transitions (background skips a bit). In MCZ act 2 after dying and returning to a check point, the background disappears until that part of the level is off screen. I'm using the Gens + emulator for this btw (Kega never saves the file for some reason) I do love this hack however.

    It's hard to show this in a picture, but Knuckles has no rotating palette underwater

    Speaking of underwater I think that Knuckles doesn't even have an underwater palette in ARZ. I think he uses Sonic's.

    Your still super after hitting the capsule until the end of act text comes up

    That explains why they changed the icon in Sonic 2 and Knuckles

    The speed shoe icon vanishes after beating a boss and turns into that thing

    This is an odd glitch. Sometimes when I die the screen doesn't turn black and bring me back to the start. Rather it does what happens in 2 player when a character dies. This causes the numbers to not update (The Rings isn't there because it disappeared. I really have 0 rings)

    While Sonic can't turn super while having invincibility stars, Knuckles can (He can with any shield for that matter). Normally this would only lead to stars around you while invincible, but for some reason once those stars wear out, you lose your invisibility, which is why I have the shield around me.

    I took this picture at the wrong time, but because Knuckles can't jump far enough to reach the plane, he can't beat the level, and thus he can't beat the game.

    Procrastinating from writing bug-fix guides
    I've got a bug to report, too.
    In ARZ act 2 the top of the level is cut off. Very noticeable if you use the upper path where there's a hidden 1-up close to the end of the act that's unreachable because of this. At least, I couldn't get it because I couldn't see the platform it's on.

    Super Sonic's under water palette seemed kind of strange, too, with the shading all weird and everything.
    Also, I've never really liked Knuckes's under water palettes in s2. They just don't fit. Maybe they could be fixed as well?
     
  20. Brilliant but I have some bugs.

    After Hill Top Zone boss, (Sonic alone, Gens 2.14) the next level failed to load, I could not move Sonic, and the end of level titles and score board continued to scroll from right to left every so often. Sonic went into his waiting stance and the timer was frozen. When I stood on the capsule, he was floating above it in his win level pose but the capsule button was down (maybe this lead to him being stuck? Also, end of Aquatic ruin 1st act, the barrier after the signpost was non-existant and I could continue running even though the camera was fixed on the signpost. Also, I lost my shield and rings after doing a special stage right before the boss in casino night zone, even though I got the emerald!

    EDIT - more glitches...

    Mystic cave- the 3d-ish purple rock background disappears for a while in act 1.
    Oil ocean - I was spinning when going past the signpost, sonig went into end of act stance (feet slightly through floor like in Sonic 3, then after scoreboards, I slid down the hill in stance, and went into spin then the game crashed. Normally in S3, the sprite is moved back onto the ground automatically if this happens.
