    Working on a vulkan game engine for fun. Learning Ray-Tracing.
    I know it's not easy. Wait porting routines, how do you do that? Is it just ploping it the routine anywhere and setting the pointer to it? Or is it more complicated then that? If it is basiclly just ploping it down to the end of the rom, and setting the pointers to it, it should be easy.

    Once you test it, please look if it doesn't screw up in Kega like some Gens-made hacks do. Then it should be very close to hardware accuracy.

    The benefit of this is since hardware doesn't 'change' like emulators do it shouldn't fuck up in future emus or newer versions of existing emus.

    Every hacker should test their hacks with the most accurately known emu to have more 'solid' hacks and not just an emu-specific one.

    I guess that's true. It would make it less of a hack, and more of a fan game.

    I'm trying to edit sonic's sprites. I'm going for more of a archie sonic style. (long spikes) Just tell me if it looks good or not.

    I agree, it doesn't look all that great. It probably could be decent if you didn't try rebuilding his forehead and making all 3 main spikes visible... and gradiented.

    As of now, he looks like he stole knux' hair and screwed it up.

    You know what happens to kittys when they get wet and then blowdried?

    I know what's limiting you to make them jump up like that. It's the same deal with my sprite that I am making...

    Edit: Didn't see you new one. It's... Bleh. It looks like his face got slamed into the wall...

    Hmm, I don't really like either one of those sprites. He's just not looking spikey anymore and looks 'taim' like this instead of a cool badass.

    It's a pain the ass to do it this way, but I think you guys will like it. Updated palette, so you can see what he's gonna look like in my hack. Once I get the sprite editer the way I want it. I'll be able to make it even better.

    Pillow shading on this kinda sprite? Big no-no. Plus the quills are just a little too long too...

    I think it's something like pillow shading. umm, Does anyone have anything show how to do other type of art styles for sprite editing. As for the quills, They are gonna stay long no matter what style I do, or what anyone says.

    Just keep them the same... Any attempt to make the original sprite look good with new quills, without completely re-proportioning the sprite will be futile.

    Besides, the old sprite is sexy enough. ;)

    Hmm, this one's slightly better but still so so.
    Maybe you can still come up with sth sexy, but it's not gonna be easy.
    Still if you compare the original S1 to S3, they are very different so it's not impossible to create a new model.

    Edit: guess I gotta leave since I've run out of posts. Approval is unlikely since I have no knowledge of hacking. Oh well, I'm still glad to have posted here.
    I'll still lurk around here though, since this is the best board for hacking news.
