Sent new savestate for new rules. Huh, 5000 points per live? Isn't that like 50 rings? Wouldn't you then lose the score for 50 rings when you get 100?

Also I like the current title screen :< But yeah, repeat the water tiles so they cover the entire width. No need for new tiles!

And what's the act 0 exploit?

It's based on the bonuses at the end of Sonic 1 8-bit.

finishing an act between 0 and 20s only gives you 100 points, to avoid a giant bonus for Act 0/4, but if you finish Act 0 in 21s, you get 250,000 points.

At first I was like what?, since I remember I had something around 47000 points, and I was sure I wouldn't get too close to the top. But those new rules made a 180º if I ever seen one!

So, that means if I had just two more extra lives I would've been in the top? Oh my, if I only knew.

I hope doc eggfan change the rules once again, so the scores will be unpredictable. =P

    A. Just Black

    B. Not just this combination, but any colour combination that you'd like to suggest. There's some options here, but I'm leaning towards just black.

    Just black looks best!

I would also like to add that the underground "step" effect in act 3 annoys me too. It looks wierd when it doesnt reach all the way to the ground. However, the windows before the slope starts are fine!

    Just black.

Would be nice to see the title screens make use of the whole screen though.

so the border doesn't have to be a single colour, what are the limits, I'm assuming there's a catch because the art is centred not full screened?

I wouldn't mind the border if you could find better colors for it.

  14. I'd agree with the colors, just black is good. About the borders, can you get a color fit for Chemical Plant?

I've run out of vram to be able to do that though. I'd have to create tiles where the slope meets the underground background, and I don't have space.

I believe it is theoretically possible to edit the "full screen" (the checkered section), but it isn't currently easily editable. I can do whatever in the middle, and the rest is one repeated (usually blank) tile, and the border is just the zero colour of the sprite pallet.

  16. So... how's the art for CPZ going? Do you need any contributions from us "pixel monkeys"? =)

If you need anything, just give us a palette and I'm sure we'll be able to help.

    Yeah, that'd be good.

Anyone want to 8-bit-ify this? Using a single 16-colour palette of your chosing preferably, but if you need a few more colours I might be able to squeeze a couple out of the second palette.

  18. So that's what you're using for the title card, huh?

Yeah, unless I get a better offer. I just took a screenshot from the MD version.

  20. I'm not sure that image is a good representative of the level. I mean, as far as I remember, each titlecards tried to show a gimmick that made the level unique: mine cart, water, loops (not so unique), tubes, hang gliders... You did it right with EHZ by using the corkscrew, but this CPZ shot is just too generic IMO. What's unique about CPZ? The tubes? the purple water/mega-whatever? Wouldn't it be better to use those?
