Hey, the speed limiter is still active. You know, if you keep the pad down if you're faster than the max speed. It was already disabled in the other beta.
I know it was already noted before, but its fun to hit spikes because Sonic can't die unless falling into a pit. =P
Tweaker I could possibly help out the site. (I never have anything to do anyway.) Just tell me if you want me. (Don't pick me over anyone else that already asks. I am a last hope.)
I love you, drx. Sonic and Tails end panels FTW. Hack plz. -Nick O. PS. Now that there's a Sonic 2 Alpha, should we change the name of the site from "The Sonic 2 Beta Page" to "The Sonic 2 Proto Page"? *Shot, bricked, hanged*

Looks like a sad face.
Actually I think this is from GHZ.
That's what I thought when I first saw it too. After checking: They're exactly the same. Same location (look at the hex in the debug display) as well. Seems to me that all of the rings in this version of HPZ Act 2 are just remnants of GHZ Act 2. EDIT: rika_chou beat me to it... did it really take 22 minutes for me to type up this post?
I can't believe I missed this post before. You're absolutely right. This must be THE EXACT same build as at Nick Arcade. How that collector managed to get his hands on it, I'll never know, but it certainly fills in the missing holes in regards to where this build originated from, and why it has so many similarities to that build. On a side note, I want that cart label. =P
All the objects in the game are either from Sonic 1 or S2's EHZ/HPZ. Don't get your hopes up on any new objects. =P (I already went through them all) EDIT: Also might I bring this up again: What does anyone think this is?
lol, I got stuck in a wall (I don't know why) I can't get out from there. Also, I have a guess on the lack of a SEGA screen from the other beta. As you noticed, this one's SEGA screen is the same as Sonic 1's. Probably it was removed for a while, while they were programming Sonic 2's.

Maybe an idea for Desert Zone? I've been out of the loop for so long I don't know what's been proven or disproven any longer... =\

I'm sure the Sonic 1 springs are loaded as a result of the original GHZ load cues from Sonic 1.
This is so awesome. We're all reliving the golden age of the discovery of the first S2 Beta. It'd be so freakin' awesome to have some background as to how this guy was able to come across Nick Arcade's beta.
FUCK THIS. I am totally coming out of retirement. drx, as many times I've told you, YOU'RE THE FUCKING MAN! This is the most awesome piece of news we've had in over 6 years.

Do you think it could be the skidding dust, from when you stop? That was in Sonic 1 as well, and this very well be the same smoke (albeit unused).
that's quite possible.. I'll check Sonic 1's art... BTW: Hold a Spindash on a breakable platform and sonic will float in the air! =P
