Sonic 2 Delta Help

Srm? That's not a genesis file. You need Sonic 2 for Genesis for the patch to work. The file is SMD, not Srm.

 

I have the same problem. When I use spatch, I use STH1 as the original ROM, then Metal Sonic.ips as the patch file, then use a copy of STH1 called "SonicTheHedgehog1 with Metal Sonic" as the output file. I click yes at the "overwrite?" screen, then no at the "apply extra data set?" screen, but when I use Gens to play the patched ROM, it just shows a black screen, and STH1 doesn't start. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

 

Umm....I don't think so. Is the rom in BIN. form?

 

It's best to practice with the roms from Sonic Stuff. Since they're all already binary marked.

 

I Respect you PC2. You know why? I have NO CLUE about that stuff, although im raedin about it and trying to learn. Kudos, for gaining that knowledge

All right, I have the patched file in .bin format, but it still doesn't run in Gens, and I think it killed the sound, because when I played STH3 unpatched, there was no sound.

 

Maybe the patch got applied incorrectly? Personally, I'd either A) grab the ROMs when Esral's site had 'em, or if I absolutely HAD to use an IPS, I applied it with SegaTool. (You'll have to look for it on that page under "General Utilities"). It's never screwed up a patch yet for me, so I hope it'll work for you.

 

Listen first get Sonic 2* off a site. Then get a patch for Sonic 2*. Then if the rom is in .SMD form when you get it, use Sonic hacking wiz pro to convert it to .bin, after all that, get Segatool and then use the patch on the .BIN rom, That should take care of it, and I don't know any other way to do it. If it still doesn't work, then 1 make SURE it's the right rom 2 Also make sure it's in .SMD or .BIN after you get it, and 3 make sure the patch is NOT corrupted or for a totally diffrent game.

* Can be another game, as long as the patch is for the game you want to apply it to.

P.S. I'm not mad either, just explaining a lot.

 

If you are getting a red screen of death or any other solid color and you are using gens, Go to tools and select misc. Now check the box where it says auto fix checksum and click ok. Now try loading the game and see if it works.
