    wouldn't you like to know
    Guitar Hero II Deluxe
I hope you don't mean that in terms of official proto ROMs, as there are no such things. The only terms Sega used were alpha and beta, and our ROM is actually closer to an alpha.

I'm not aware offhand of a Sonic 2 Gamma hack, but you can download Esrael's Sonic 2 Delta hack here (page is in Portuguese, just go into the hacking guides section, there's should be links to pages with S1, S2B, and S2F hacks. Delta should be in there somewhere.

Edit: GAH, the ROM hacks pages give 404s. And I don't have a recent version of Delta handy. Sorry. :/

Nothing that concerns this place in the least.
Err, LocalH beat me to it...

But his hack isn't back up yet. And a "Sonic 2 Gamma", I don't know if it's the same one you're talking about, but it's one here.

I`ve always thought that the Alpha version was the earliest stage of development while the Gamma version was close to the finished product.(Beta was between the two)I guess I was wrong though.

If you're talking about Esreal's Sonic 2 rom hacks, click here. Go to downloads, IPS patches, and then Sonic 2. But make sure you know what IPS patches are, and how to use them.

This might sound a little confusing, so listen up:

I do believe you mean IPS patch? Go to sonicology.fateback.com. Browse around until you find something called "StealthPatch". if you have a ".SMD" rom, get Genecyst from the music page link, unzip it, open it up, select the SMD, and on the top menu, click "dump rom". Exit Genecyst. The new rom should be saved as rom.bin (I think). If it's not .bin, rename it as rom.bin. Now you're ready! Unzip the IPS patch from the .zip file, and to be safe, copy and paste the patch and rename it as a .bin file. Open StealthPatch and go to "Apply Patch". Select "rom.bin" when it asks for the original file. When it says select IPS file, select your IPS patch. When it says select output, select the copied IPS (which is now a .bin file). Don't select extra data unless you downloaded it. And then, use your choice emulator and play the output.

(Or at least that's how I do it)

Or if you have Windows 98 or higher, right click the zipped file, left click extract files and follow along with the rest.

Windows XP only. All previous versions of Windows have no natural ability to unzip ZIP files.
