*cough* I can help you out with the other stuff too if you'd like. I can also alter this thing I made.
...I had no idea anything like that existed. But it is a bit different from the actual SA1 title cards, the swirl colors are inverted (should be white outside blue inside), the stage text should be lower case, the action stage text should be thinner, the numbers are a bit large and the level name text is a bit thicker as well.
What I was going to do is shrink the SA1 title card images to half size (640x480->320x240) and apply Sonic's palette, which would look something like this: The letters and numbers would be cut into sprites. I also want to use the Sub Game title card for Sky Chase, which will require a custom palette.
Spoiler Anything you want touching up on this, let me know. Again, if you want the other menus doing, reply or PM me. Whatever suits your fancy. EDIT: Need to thin out those level name letters. EDIT2: Minor edits.
JojHeywood I appreciate the effort you're putting into this, but it's just not really authentic enough for me. I may end up taking graphics from SA1 directly for everything but the title logo and the image of Sonic (if I use SADX's title screen rather than SA1's).
In order to prevent the general screenshots thread from becoming a discussion thread for this hack again, I'll just start posting pics here:
I just thought of something... will this have upgrades of any kind for characters? I'm guessing not, but it's worth asking.
I have no idea where I would find room in VRAM for upgrade items, or the corresponding message describing their usage.
Didn't Cnninosu (isk how to spell it) pull off something like this in Sonic 1 (minus the individual sprites for the powerups which don't matter)?
So, it looks like the next feature I'll be adding from SA1 will be the "Now, you can play as KNUCKLES!" message. Also, I've been having ideas for a two-player Emerald hunting competition, but I'm not sure how to deal with palette limitations and interlaced mode...
