Thanks, I fixed that myself a couple of weeks back actually. Making the invisible death blocks a bit more lenient didn't play well with the speed of the crushing pistons, so it just needed to be dialled back down in Metropolis. Will be in the next update, whenever that may be.

Ah, good to hear that the game is undergoing further bug-fixing updates, even if there's no update pencilled in per se at the moment. = )

Quick slightly off-topic question - are there any plans to add an option to turn off the virtual control pad display in the Retro Engine version of Sonic CD? You can do it in Sonic 1 and 2, but I'm damned if I can find an option to turn it off in Sonic CD - a shame, as the mobile version running on Bluestacks would become my default version to play if it weren't for that overlay obscuring the graphics at the bottom of the screen. If there are no current plans to add this, is it something that you'd consider adding into a potential future update? = )

Posting from my phone, will fix any typos later.

I'm too lazy to go through the rest of the topic right now, but somewhat like what was mentioned on another page, occasionally some sounds bug out on my phone (I haven't tested on Bluestacks yet).

Specifically, in Sonic 1, shortly after a spindash, the game emits a loud static noise. The same thing happens whenever I get hit and lose rings. I haven't had it at any other point in the game yet.

In Sonic 2, I've encountered it twice - the first time around, I have no idea what caused it for sure, but the second time, it seemed to be related to rolling through a monitor. Having said that, it doesn't always happen when spinning through a monitor in Sonic 2, whereas it happens every time I spindash or lose rings in Sonic 1.

FWIW, my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3. Not sure if those details really help in any way, but... There you go. :P

    EDIT: typos

I've been playing boss attack in time attack lately and I've got a few issues which are affecting my progress:
    • The transition between bosses is uneven in relation to speed. Sometimes, I can transition between bosses and maintain speed and at others, I can go full speed into the fade area and in the next, be standing at a complete stand still. It's infuriating to lose a second or two due to my speed disappearing.
    • If I charge a spin dash just after destroying the Death Egg robot, but before the camera unlocks with the subsequent explosion chase; when the camera does unlock, you roll down the tunnel with explosions so fast that the you trigger the sign post but the timer never stops. Even during the score tally. This causes me to get a much worse time just because I was charging a spin dash and is the first time I've ever seen something like it happen.
    • A few times, I've been hit while carrying 1 ring and in the scramble to get the last ring, have died at the same time I've collected the ring, causing me to die holding 1 ring.
Some of the boss oddities mentioned before are still present which are affecting my runs in general. This includes:
    • Casino Night Zone's boss with incorrect collision which has resulted in me hitting him and taking damage at the same time a lot more often than it should.
    • Hill Top Zone's boss that appears way too early resulting in a difficult 8 hit cycle
    • Oil Ocean Zone's boss being vulnerable for a lot shorter time which requires a wait between hits (4 hits, wait, 4 hits) as opposed to even attempting 8 hits in 1 cycle.
    • Death Egg Zone's Silver Sonic's timing is off to the point where getting 4 hits right at the start is difficult to time and then getting hits in after the first roll keeps resulting in me getting hit due to the later timing of Silver Sonic uncurling.
I know some of these are petty and small issues but they are requiring me to change the way I play which doesn't make much sense when most of the game elsewhere is the same.

Again, thanks for reading through this and as per usual, I'm only bringing these issues to light to help improve the game, not break it down. I thoroughly enjoy it as a much improved version of Sonic 2.

[Android - from the Amazon app store specifically - dunno if the problem is persistent in the non-Amazon Store version, and/or on the iOS platform's version]

When I do the boss time attach, sometimes Dr. Robotnik's theme doesn't start when I begin the first boss, resulting in me listening to the Death Egg theme trough the entire run - and if I restart a boss level, no music plays at all (which is actually kinda nice on one hand, but OTOH I like the boss music playing heh.

Since nobody's mentioned it yet, the BGM for Hidden Palace is a bit off. The PSG backing the steel drum patch isn't present throughout the track.

He changed the PSG percussion into samples, either open or closed hi-hats.

Out of curiosity, does Sonic only have his normal move set in this game? I know Sonic 1 had cheat codes for the S3 shield moves, but haven't heard much about Sonic 2. If so it might be something to consider, it would be a shame to have Sonic the powerless dud character in the game. Maybe something like an option for another retro move (eg. insta shield, peel out, wall jump) similar to how CD had options for spin dash.

Not sure if I'm one with the right to pick fault however, I'm one of those that hasn't played the game and is just banking on a later time I may get an portable or SEGA will finally approve it for consoles.

Elemental shields are in by using the sound test on level select. Code: 00, 00, 00. You'll see the option pop up.

So, I installed Sonic 2 on a new Android Phone recently and when I want to connect to my facebook account it appears this message. (It seems it also happen in the other games, but I've only checked Sonic CD)

    Working on my art!
Oh I got a few now that this topic is resurrected.

    1. I know that Super Tails is a bonus but a few things. Why is his palette tied to Robotnik's? I get that in the Genesis days but now I don't understand why Robotnik's mustache has to glow when Tails does (this applies to the sign post too).
    2. Again with Super Tails, his underwater palette in Chemical plant is just god awful. It's like, Normal Underwater tails, Shiny Tails, Black, repeat. Bleh.
    3. In Aquatic Ruin Zone Act 2 on the top path of the level there's a floating chunk that's just kinda there. It doesn't fit with anything it's just a piece of ceiling.

Bumping this back up. I'm not sure if this is software shenanigans or a hardware issue, but I'm getting a weird sort of input lag on the Android version (I'm lazy and haven't fully searched the thread to see if this has been reported or not, bite me).

On my phone, the game works fine, but on my Galaxy Tab 4, both Sonic 1 and 2 have a circumstantial input delay. If I'm not pressing anything on the screen, then new inputs (d-pad or jumping, pausing seems to work fine) take about a half-second to register. However, if I'm already pressing the screen, like holding the jump button or a d-pad direction, the inputs register more or less immediately, like they usually do.

I haven't even beaten Emerald Hill on the Tab 4 yet, due to trying to fix the input delay, but it's not that intrusive in regular gameplay (yet, at least). The special stages, on the other hand, are a massive pain. Has anyone else gotten this, and if so, does anyone know how to fix it?

Try this; Settings -> Accessibility -> Vision (Touchwiz version dependent iirc)

Turn off Magnification Gestures if it's on.

Ahh, that did the trick! The response time is much better now, thanks! :)

  19. I hope the classic Sonic series (S1, S2, S3&K & Sonic CD) comes to the Windows store soon, like Sonic Dash just did!

  20. Personally I'd prefer that they come to PC through another platform such as Steam, but any PC release would be great, yeah!
