Well done Markey! I guess you could say that you brought Sonic hacking to the... Next Level? (*TopHatt runs)
I downloaded this hack and beat it just half an hour ago. I must say, this hack is really amazing! The gimmicks are interesting, the enemies are changed, and the graphics and details are amazing. I especially love how the the pieces of the crumbling blocks float away slowly, as well as the smoother animations for Sonic. And that boss was insane! I had no idea a Sonic game could pull stuff like that off, and the boss fight was incredibly unique. Bravo to all the people who helped make this hack!
Really? No one mentioned the speed shoes music source? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTMg9wfMygw Thanks for that callback from my childhood, Markey.
Right you are! Well done~ Unfortunately you never get to hear it in full as the super sneakers wear out before it has time to finish and loop. So, I've linked an mp3 dump of the music in the game on the first post... ...I don't think any of you will get Act 3's origin, so I'll post the remaining origins this weekend (unless someone can actually work it out before then of course...)
Look to what you did, MarkeyJester. Now I'm wanting this to be a complete game. Before playing it I thought "Nah, that's just a simple one-level game which doesn't offer anything very special."... But in the end it made me incredibly surprised. What I could say now is... What a wonderful job!
Yeah, me too. Gank the zone from Pana and we've got two. That's like 1/3 the work done, whoopa! Also, Markey why aren't you blazing the indie gamedev scene and making mad monies? <3
Well, time's up, the three tracks you guys didn't guess were: Gust Planet Act 3 (SMPS) - I-Level - Treacle Invincible Theme (PCM) - Rapina Bros - Reach To The Top Act 3 Boss Theme (PCM) - DJ Mayhem - M-PowerBut well done anyway, you banked up $50 to be donated to SonicRetro. By the way, I am often very fond of I-Level, I strongly suggest checking out their music if you haven't already...
I swear, you were on acid when you made this. Seriously, freaking kudos, I haven't played a Romhack this polished since uhh...the one with the pink hedgehog thing. My only real complaint was that the level design was mostly just corridors, but the newly-coded badniks and stage gimmicks were a sight to behold, and this video sums up my reaction to the boss fight. I mean, really, I think you introduced me to the effects of LSD. Keep it up, can't wait for next year.
Wow holy shit dude are you a wizard?! I'm playing this on real hardware and holy shit I did not know the Mega Drive could do some of this stuff. Any pointers on the boss? I'm a bit stumped by the controls and where you can actually hit him.
Hold the button to roll, even if you're still. If you go to the bottom right corner and stand rolling there you can hit him 2 or 3 times without getting hurt. Do it in every corner that he shows up and he won't even touch you.
