Sonic 1 Pixel Perfect

Reused song, but at least it fits.

Recycled graphics, but at least it's pretty.

Layouts are fun. I can run and jump and don't have to worry about falling into spike traps or poorly placed enemies.

Tails is still annoying.

Plus, this hack has the best palettes I've ever seen. The colors contrast nicely and are very soothing as a whole. Nothing sticks out unnecessarily yet you can see everything you need to see. The day times are also very believable.
I'd also like to emphasize on how you can simply play the levels. No bumping into enemies in a speed section, the platforming sections work nicely and the levels generally feel like they belong in a Sonic game. A few sections actually made me smile.

 

Um, you can't get past MZ1. :/

 

OK I been playing this hack and its very very well made. I love how the acts change between day and night. +1000000 points for that. The "Loops and shit" is very well layed out. Its really fun running though an entire zone in 3 Min's. The maps have a lot of hidden goodies too, so you can take the full 10 Min's and explore every part of it.

Things I did not like:
The big ring at the end of the zone is too high and I missed it once but that just me QQing

Bugs/Problems:
I found TV item box that has no icon its just shades of gray. I don't know if that working as intended. Its the 1ST TV in act one zone one.

I found a spot where sonic did not go though the pathing of a curve and missed a line of rings. Not a big deal and may be working as intended

Huge bug: At the end of zone 2 act 1 instead of having the sonic flag, there is what appears to be 2 TV meshed together. When I touch it I can hear the sound of the flag spinning. I know its the end of the stage cause of the giant ring. Crazy thing is when I touch it, it teleport me to the far right then under ground. After being teleported I instantly die.

I really really don't think this one is working as intended.

I really would like to play more of the hack, but I cant pass the stage with the giant but
If no one else has this problem maybe its my computer and I might need tech help.

That's because it's incomplete. =P

If you use level select you'll notice some of the other levels have some small extra's added to them (loops in SYZ and SBZ, if I recall correctly) and if my memory is correct the art in LZ is different.


Anyways...

This is probably one of the finest hacks I've played to date, next to Megamix. And this one isn't even completed yet!

The art is just stunning (I've fallen in love with the MZ art, and the background is really fitting for it =P) and the layouts really make it feel more like a classic sonic game. I also really enjoy the palette changes between acts.

GHZ4 was pretty epic too, but for some reason it gave me a hard time because I fail like that. D:

 

Agreed I love how it plays. Very pleasing to the eye. The pathing flows very smoothly. I cant express how satisfied I was when I played it. It totally surpassed all my expectations.

Is there a code for level select in that hack? I tried the Sonic 1 cheat and it doesn't work...

 

Access the sound test and play "20 05 15 11" and watch as Shadow rapes Sonic... Oh wait... no he doesn't. That's just the US release date for Shadow the Hedgehog. My bad. =P
