hai guyz lemme present u my new projec!!! its called sonic 1 megahack ultra edition!!! there r new levelz!!! new pallets!!! and it haev homming atack!!! screenhots!!! donwload!!! EDIT (01/04/2016): Broken download link fixed; reuploaded since SSRG downloads section is down for good.
Easily the funniest hack ever created. If it wasn't for the green label under your name, I'd put it away as yet another shitty noob hack, but anyone even considering this misses the experience of his lifetime.
HORY SHITZ DIS GAEM IS AWEZUMS! LOOK AT DE LEVELS!!!! DE PALETZ!!!! DE HOMING ATAC!!!! + - No, but seriously, fuck the noob pallet, fuck the levels, play it anyway. The pallets may be eye-raping and the levels may be noob, but the bosses are the work of a mad genius.
This hack, just made my...not just my day, but my week and month. Bosses = Awesome. I feel raped by pallets, but that's normal the first time :P...
I like the color choices and I don't feel like killing myself because of them Spoiler The Spring Yard Act 3 boss is the best thing.
Amazing job. Also, nice unlock after beating the game. That made me warm and fuzzy inside, knowing I can play it with better palettes. =P Question... What led you to release this game with the "turd palettes", even though it was such a technical feat? Rather interesting. All that said, I really enjoyed this, and it's one I'll be putting permanently on several of my consoles. =P Thanks for this (and the 2 weeks you put into it). =P
Wow, that was some surreal and funny stuff going on in that hack, I could see myself playing more hacks like this one. :p
Holy shit. Pulling off a bunch of the most imaginative ideas ever seen in a hack and then obfuscating them by piling a bunch of irrelevant bullshit on top... brilliant. Punkest hack ever.
The palettes could pass for night palettes... if you squint. But THOSE BOSSES. The first one reminds me of the falling spiked floors in Metallic Madness. Do I see some inspiration from Colours in the SYZ3 boss? I also notice that you removed the level select code :D
I assume to make it not obvious and to make people so much more surprised when they get to the good bits. It's already an element of surprise but makes it much more of an "Oh WOW!" moment with the player originally thinking it's a craptastic adventure XD
You just can't trust bad palett hacks nowadays. I knew this would some epic trip, but holy shit... My favorite part has to be the reversed GHZ boss. Or the Red Ring boss for the DIE moment. Both are really creative. Have to say, the glitchy spindash and the utterly fucked palettes really are fitting. The final boss was pretty funny. I honestly expected something impossible to beat. I guess I can live without Erazor being finished for realz with this game around...
You see when I first played this during the Hacking Contest, I thought this was a troll entry with bad palettes and nothing else. Then, after the update was sent in, I played the entire first level, then I realized what this hack actually was. Good work.
HAWLY SHEET DEM PALETTES! No, just kidding. Seriously, this is was a damn good hack! And it was a hilarious hack too! Keep up the good work!
One of the things that got on my nerves about the hack was that if you went too fast down the S tubes in GHZ Act 1, you'd instantly die from going off-camera. But looking back, I find that it helps to maintain the noob facade you're going for, as it makes the player think whoever created the hack didn't have the talent to fix bugs like this.
What highly amused me about those early, shitty palette hacks is the way they'd rename a zone, believing they were providing the player with a fresh new experience. To their minds making Green Hill's grass brown and the water Purple + calling it Toxic Hill Zone = all new zone.
