Sonic 1 Brother Trouble

    The level and boss is fine, but the co-op mode is disappointing. Don't get me wrong, this has nothing to do with the work you put into it but rather the nature of Sonic games in general. Co-Op only seems to work as well if both players had their own screen like in the Sonic Advance games, otherwise player 1 is going all over the place while player 2 struggles to keep up or predict player 1's movements. Doesn't help much when Player 1 has the ability to zoom at will.

    Everything else was fine though.

    New music, new badniks, new layouts, new boss, they are fucking awesome.
    Praise to that 2P mode a la Sonic&Tails too!
    Now can't wait to see that Neon Tokyo zone :P

    I feel exactly the same here, I dream of a multiplayer mode like in Sonic Advance 3 but the Megadrive can't allow that so guess we have to forget about it :(

    Newbie coming through: I was highly impressed with this one as well. I replayed the demo I downloaded a couple of times and it was excellent!! Maybe I didn't pay attention but I didn't even know there was a co-op mode?! I'm gonna' go grab my PSP and play it again. . :0

    Its because there isn't, he is just updating the game and showing the new updates but he haven't released them yet.

    Haha, this is good. I like the new custom enemies, now it looks like Brother Trouble is its own game instead of a Sonic 1 hack. :)

    I... you... we... uhm... WHAT THE FREAKING WHAT!??? Dude, that was totally mind-blowing! I can't believe what you did during that short time you were away (Ok, it were 2 months. But still, awesome).

    Do you know this weird feeling in your stomache that happens on totally strange moments which should actually be "fuck yeah"? I'm having it at the moment.
    Or in other words, I can't believe you actually did this, as with "Maybe this sounds crazy" I was trying to say "This'll be totally impossible but do it anyway lolz". I just can't wait for a demo. =D

    If I were to program some sort of split screen similar to S2, how would you guys feel to that? OK I know it's gonna be a pain in the arse, but I've been looking at the documents to the Megadrive's VDP, and feel that it's a plausible task. What I don't like about that idea is the fact that the screen size kind of annoyed me years ago while playing S2 (And truth be known I'm not sure if the S1 engine could handle it, some of the engine was changed for S2. Of course we might get away with it =P).

    I'm open to any other ideas about the two player situation.

    The split screen could be a solution but the screen size kinda annoy me too. Let's see if someone has a good idea about this

    I noticed, Manic is coming on his flying board when going of screen, like Tails does. But you always needed to wait for him before he was following you again, which would be very annoying.
    Also, it seems like Manic is destroying all the monitors and enemies when he comes close to one. Can't really tell it by the video, but it fells like it and it somehow annoys me too.
    I'd also like to see the possibility to have Manic as leader and Sonic as backup.

    Besides that, I'm fine with it. I think split screen would be a bad idea, as you once send me a built to test out that chaotix thing and even there it was lacking like every 5 seconds. Imagine how it would be with so many VDP changes. (If you can do it, great, but I won't bet any money on it. =P)

    Ah now, there's actually a bug where sometimes Manic doesn't throw the stick at all, but after playing it, that actually turns out to be the best bug I've ever had =D

    No, there's a limit I'd like to keep at to be frankly honest, sure it would be a nice idea but no, I'd like to move onto something else at some point (I don't wanna be working on BroTro forever).

    If there's another suggestion (minor though) I could add, it would be to colour the life icons as well as the end sign. I don't like them all black but it's just a suggestion.

    Yeah, after chasing my PSP down and playing it, I only come back to realize someone already told me there's no Co-op in the demo, so now I just feel stupid, haha. Can't wait for the next release, then. This game = excellent.

    I can understand that, sometimes it's nice to diversify. Neverless what you already have looks awesome and pretty complete from what I've seen. The boss looks a bit tricky for the first level though, a lot of people here who make new bosses for their hacks have neat concepts but they often seem to make them rather extreme and frantic from the get go.

    As for Sonic 2 split screen, if it's possible, YES, YES, YES. Sonic 2 had the best multiplayer out of the classic games to me, held back only by the fact you could only play three levels (come to think of it has a Sonic 2 hack with more VS levels been made?). Looking at your level design it seems a few would work well in this manner as well.

    Will split screen still be co op or versus race instead?
