Sonic 1 Beta Remake

  2. Try saving target as, It worked for me. Nice fixing the Bug (Edit: Bug not link)...though you didn't fix that collision bug in my first pic.

    Anyway, the collision bug is still there. At least it doesn't crash anymore.
     
  4. I already said that =P. I just plugged in my headphones, (It's like 1 AM and my parents are asleep so I can't have any music on) and I <3 the boss music :P.

    A little something I have been working on lately.

    Instead of putting the boss back in the FZ/CWZ3. I decided to add yet another new level. As you can see, It is Death Egg Zone, from Sonic 2. But unlike DEZ from Sonic 2. This level will be 2 acts long.

    Act 1, Will be a transition from CWZ3, to, DEZ2(FZ). I just barely got started on this act. when I get some decent progress done, I post a few screens.

    Act 2, as shown from the screenshots, will be where you fight Robotnik. Only difference is, you have even less room to screw around, making the boss's electricity orbs a slight bit harder to avoid. and the FZ boss will take 12 hits, instead of the normal 8 hits.

    Omg, haha. Why did no one come up with this idea before?
    I do remember Thunderspeed was going to put this boss in with GHZ patterns which looked amazing but as always he never finishes things. :P

    And less space for the orbs, won't that go the way of frustration. I mean it was fairly hard already if they were coming down equally distributed.
    One hit, bang you're dead.

    Still, good to see you're still working on this.

    Anyway, even though that it's actually a really nice idea... This is a Sonic 1 Beta remake, right? Surely this doesn't fit the theme of the hack.

    Something occurred to me when I saw those death egg images.
    Sonic 2 Beta remake?
    Doesn't have to be chronologically correct, I think that if you can put death egg in Sonic 1 you could hack Sonic 1 into an early "concept" of what Sonic 2 was going to be.
    Or not :P looking good anyways

    I really hate to bump up my own topic... considering it's been almost a year since this topic had been updated.

    but I am bumping this for a few things, and some help on something.

    First off, my hack is still alive... as there are things I still need to put into certain levels and whatnot. most everything that existed in the beta as far as screens and other stuff has been added. so in short, my hack is still alive, but it's almost completely done.

    I recently heard about the true function of the checkered ball, that it would smash through walls. but first off, would it be possible to have the giant ball detect slopes? (like when it goes up a slope it goes slower, but when it goes down one it goes faster.)

    and one other thing that I can't figure out is how I could get the ball (object 19), to interact with the breakable wall object. (in other words, could it be possible to have the ball do the same function as Sonic's spindash?

    I know it's been a while, but I've had these questions in me for quite a long time.

    Hmm, well all this is possible and I don't think it would be too hard to program, first of all the slopes thing, you might have to create your own routine for increasing and decreasing the speed for that ball (I recommend taking a look at sonic's physic routines along “Obj01_MdRoll” as he seems to be the only object that follows them rules),

    as for the ball breaking the wall, well looking at the breakable walls object routine it only really checks sonic's speed and what animation is show for sonic, it would be easy to do the same for the ball (you might have to set the balls to load in a specific ram location so you know what address to read from when applying it to the breakable walls routine).

    Hey I have an idea for the goggles monitor. When sonic is out of the water, he will unwear the goggles and when in water he wears them again.
    Also, because sonic is wearing goggles, the palette of the water (or only sonic's) should change to normal since sonic can clearly look underwater because of the goggles.

    I think you could make a new code for that based on Sonic_SlopeResist.

    The reason a few minutes ended up being over a week was because I have been, VERY BUSY with life. I can't and won't get into details about it here since it is not appropiate to do so. but regardless, this is the last update version of this particular hack. the other one, with the extra levels, is still being worked on, and should hopefully be released some time next year.

    Here is what was changed since the last version...unlike the other version, there wasn't much left to do, since I practically added every prototype difference to this hack in previous versions. so for now, it's pretty much done.

    GHZ:

    * The ball has been tweaked a little more, but unfortunately I still don't have a clue how to tweak the ball to interact with breakable walls. I know someone explained how, but to be honest I still can't get exactly what to do to get it to work properly.

    *breakable walls are no longer able to be broken open from spinning into them. this is because eventually the ball will be the only method of doing so

    *some object layouts have been tweaked

    LZ:

    *the BG art for LZ has been touched up, mainly on the lower part of the BG, since it looked like crap beforehand.



    MZ:

    *a couple odd glitches were fixed in the level.


    SLZ:

    *the layout was tweaked a bit in the beginning of act 1. there is one minor change to act 3 as well.


    SZ:

    *some noticeable changes were done to SZ's BG. as well as a small update to the sparkling effect in the level. now there are three different sets of sparkles.


    Special Stage:

    *a new 2nd special stage has been added. based off that bizzare Sonic 1 japanese article with the gold special stage.

    ----

    Sorry that not as much was updated in this build. but with radical changes happening in my life right now, and more important things, I just don't have the time right now to do much with this hack. (other than minor updates)

    So for now, this hack's journey comes to an end.

    Thank you very much! I've been looking forward to the final release. :)

    EDIT: I'm a little confused about the ending...where it says "DO NOT PUSH." Well, obviously I pushed it and it made explosion noises and then I released the animals from the pod. Then it went to the SEGA screen...where is the actual battle with Dr. Robotnik?
