Sonic 1 and 2 getting the Sonic CD treatment by Taxman and Stealth

That's pretty cool! I always thought the art design on that level was really solid. (Shame when they took made that level's ideas into Ice Cap that they took all the color out of it.)

 

Now all I need to see is how 2P Mode works. No screens or mention of it anywhere. All in due time I s'pose.

I too thought about how the Organ in the background at the boss area could be referencing the level's music (if it's using the music we think it's using)

Wow, Sonic 2's prototype Hidden Palace Zone.

What was once a prototype level that never made the cut is now officially implemented into Sonic 2 + - with new added content   . It's like a love letter to my teenager self back in days of when people first heard about the prototype Hidden Palace Zone fallowed by the first Sonic 2 prototype being found by Simon Wai. It left people like me wondering what it had been like if Hidden Palace Zone had been complete and here we are.

I wonder what Craig Stitt is thinking right now? =P

Things like how the level layout, the sprite work, the music, the mechanics, etc. will be like I'll soon find out.

I've got one question already for Taxman & Stealth whenever they can talk about this. Regarding all the new added content that's in Hidden Palace Zone, which of it is stuff Sonic Team originally planned for the level or is it all new original content?

So, I was wondering how long it'll take before some enterprising hacker manages to squeeze the level and boss into a Sonic 2 hack.

Russia, Brazil, I'm looking at you two. You're usually the first ones to accept and accomplish these challenges.

 

It definitely won't take that long for someone to piece up the level.

The boss? I look forward to seeing it in the 2014 Hacking Contest as a submission.

I was going to buy Sonic 1 Android earlier but Google Play was having some issues. Maybe I'll be lucky next time I try when Sonic 2 gets released.

 

Unless it's been mentioned that this is going to make its way on Steam, I'm going to have to get this on my phone to find out what this boss is.

 

At this rate, Sega should get Stealth and Tax together with M2 so we can have a better unified Sonic 2 portable.

 

Now all we need is the inevitable Sonic 3&Knuckles remake to have an option to play through the original level order before the game was split in two.

 

Yes, count me as very interested in seeing how that level ended up being laid out (esp. since I thought the layouts for tails and knuckles in marble were kinda weak).
