Any chance of throwing together a HOWTO on building the kit? =P

If what I've provided is not enough, you are too inexperienced to build it :P
This 35$ solution is for experienced people....

Sure, but if I'm reading this right, that set of instructions is to build the read/write device, not the cart.

I have no fucking clue how you'd build the actual cart. =P

Also, yes, inexperienced at electronics :(

    This isn't dead, I'm working on 1.1:

The mighty "sprite" in the top left corner is a full-color (32768 color) Mighty bitmap. Of course, later on I will make the Sonic object engine be able to use the 32x "sprites" (which won't have the 80 limit), that's that plan anyway.

The bitmap "sprites" can be of any size, too, they're not restrained by the 32x32 of the Megadrive (bigger graphics had to use several sprites)

I know it's a dumb idea, but for it's for a use of sprite scaling in the actual game. What if you added something akin to the concept of "giant mario" from New Super Mario Bros? I think that would be pretty sweet.

    Overall, good work drx!

It would be nice to have a straight port with enhanced graphics (or just optimized, using the bigger 32X sprites) and sound before adding crazy stuff, though.

I hear that IceKnight, I wanna see enhancements without it turning into a whole new game. I mean, I can't think of many areas that need improvement, but the ones drx mentioned would be nice, rotating Sonic and special stages. We could probably have debug mode where the graphics never glitch up.

I don't know who would be up to enhancing the color pallette though, that would require redrawing really.

Of course, this makes it 'very easy' to enable Tails and Knuckles without any of the palette issues found in plain vanilla S1.

And one could use the Chaotix sprites for Knuckles.
I'd actually be willing to play him under these circumstances!

One start could be directly replacing Sonic's skin tones with Mighty's...
