Two years ago or so, Sega posted a video of Takenobu Mitsuyoshi performing a certain song called "Something Something Wind Simulator", its short version, and I wonder where it originates from. Is there a full Version of it? I'm clueless, really! Here's the the Japanese description of the video: Can someone pinpoint me at the full version of this track? The song in question: 光吉猛修/地球の風シミュレーター(Short version)
I wonder if this is maybe the image song for like... a mid-size/large attraction? Mitsuyoshi occasionally makes songs for them. It could also be someone reminiscing about arcade development, but that's more speculation. My first thought was, do any old-school Sega cabs have built-in fans to "simulate wind"?
Hm. Got curious, did some more research. "Earth's Wind Simulator" (地球の風シミュレーター) appears to be an original track composed specifically for the 2020 Takenobu Mitsuyoshi Dinner Show. Or at least created in connection with it. [source]
I think I've heard of that show. Is it the one where they eat delicious stuff and talk about their compositions? E. g. But how this connects to that specific song is still not so clear!
Actually, a "dinner show" is a specific type of traditional theatre where you get served a meal while watching a performance. In this case, the Mitsuyoshi Dinner Show is an official SoJ event where he sings some of his more famous Sega songs to entertain the audience, which usually takes place once a year. It appears he also composed and/or performed original songs as well, such as your "Earth's Wind Simulator". Check our (relatively sparse) article on the subject for slightly more info.
@cartridgeculture That's exactly it. Thank you for taking your time to dig this all up! Seems like the album on which the song would have appeared was cancelled. No wonder I couldn't find it. Edit: Here he sang the full song (1:02:30): https://www.youtube.com/live/bWLMFO9bp_A "The Simulator of the wind on the Earth", Iona Takashima wrote it.
