Now, This is strange, After all these years of SEGA being a 3rd-party producer, we get this, The Ringedge and Ringwide.

And to back this up, it seems that SEGA has patented a Game controller.

    Discussion Please.

Edit: Uhh, thanks to whoever moved it.
(It seems that Even after several months of P.A, I can't seem to post in the right place...)

Fairly sure it's just arcade hardware announced years ago.

Hmm... there had been trademarks for this console for a while now. So I'm not that surprised.

The console design itself though, I'm definitely reminded of the Wii.

Hmm. Interesting. After reading through the article, am I right in thinking the only hint one of them could become a home console is because of the 'OnLive' possibility?

If it cannot play games I buy in a shop, and requires a constant internet connection, then this going to be a huge failure if they release it in the next 1/2 years. The UK alone has huge areas that are in the 'Outside area' of broadband, paying more money for a crappy connection because you live out of town. Some areas may not even have broadband. Ignoring them is a big mistake.

Maybe the current sonic 4 is a decoy and sega are gearing up to kick all the competitors in the balls in one mighty rise from the gutter.
hahah, seriously though I haven't even seen an arcade in years.

Yeah, the Ring Series are arcade boards, and the ZONE SEGA is a Genesis.

Oh, I love arcade systems like this one...I'd love to have a Lindbergh...so many great games! Initial D4 and 5, Virtua Fighter 5!, After burner Climax! and so on!

Its a shame they never port games to pc...the last good game they ported from arcades...Virtua Tennis 3? I think?

So its like one of those alienware-type gaming pcs right? sounds cool but I'm liking the wireless 50-in-1 genesis better wonder if it has all 3 sonic games with lock-on?

Wait what the hell is "windows embedded standard 2009"?!

These are arcade platforms, and they aren't even very interesting platforms. They're just generic PCs with a crappy version of Windows and a DRM module.

This is true. I'm pretty sure the reason why this isn't crystal clear to some is because people are still jacking off to the idea of a 'Dreamcast 2.'

It's basically the next version of Windows XP Embedded. The version is a sub-group of Windows Professional that provides full driver support, but without the risk of attacks and a smaller footprint on storage devices. It's kinda like Windows CE, but it includes the full Windows API. They are recommended for use in devices with arcade games, bank telling, and even in casinos!

Our company uses this version of Windows [not the newer one at least], and it doesn't include all of the features Windows XP Professional includes. Instead, our machines run with touch-screen technology, networking our credit cards, printers, and information to all machines without all the Windows Media Player, wallpapers, and extra technologies we don't really need.

No, it isn't. Windows Embedded is more like a stripped-down Linux system for embedded systems like routers and stuff, except it's Windows instead of Linux, so it not only costs more, it's more vulnerable to remote exploits. (Of course, you *could* strip out the entire networking subsystem from Windows Embedded, but that makes it rather useless.)

Interesting, its user-agent is the same as 7:

I don't want a console where the only way of getting games is from an online service. Is there anyone who wants something like that?

That sounds like a bad idea an I'm glad it is never going to happen.
