What?! I need to youtube this... I can't find a video on youtube, I searched for 'fighters megamix hidden character', 'fighters megamix tree' and 'fighters megamix palmtree'. I need to see!
Yeah, there are no videos, but from what I gather you need to have 84 hours of gameplay to unlock the palmtree, then do something else... Are you willing to play for that long? =P
I actually managed it once waaay back in 98 on my copy of the game, but only because I left the game running over night once or twice. Sadly back then I didn't own a Saturn memory card so the battery died eventually taking the save file with it.
I really should fact check stuff before I put it in the wiki. Turns out Asobin was in Segagaga after all. Anyone care to translate or shed some light on when he appears in the game?
Opa-Opa is the best Sega Mascot hands down. He's never been in a bad game, and sega has treated him better than any other property in company history. Fantasy Zone II DX is one of the best sega games in decades.
I don't know... they probably just brought him back for this one occasion? If you really want to be sure, you'd have to check early MD manuals (Fukkokuban was 2 April 1994)

I've actually known he was in the Game Gear manual for nearly 2 decades. Wasn't aware it was a big deal =P
Does anyone have any idea what his name, Asobin, means? I know the Japanese verb "asobu" means play, but that's all I got. I would be very interested to know.
Two things... FIRST - You did a Strider in Sonic 1 hack? Dear god I want to play it... BADLY! SECOND - What about Vectorman? (As a mascot... not in a Sonic 1 hack, though that would be kickass)
Oh, I was expecting it to run around slashing the robots up, but its just a sprite edit... the rolling animation cracked me up though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfq-DIFHACk I can't believe there's a song for Segata Sanshiro. Does anyone know the history to this song? Like, why it exists?
It exists because it's awesome! People actually bought the Saturn in Japan because Sanshiro was so popular, and novelty singles were still a thing in the nineties, that's pretty much it, I think.
