That's because WE WERE THE KIDS!

You all fail to understand that this is a franchise based on fucking children. The children aren't the problem, it's SEGA is too fucking incompetent to make a game of a quality that a general audience would enjoy and instead target their effort on a concentrated group with mediocre presentation and ideas.

Ring-a-ding-ding. This. If the next Sonic game is like the rest, I won't drop all respect for Sonic, but I won't pay any attention to updates or leaks about new games that may mean that he's making "the comeback we've all been waiting for". If I hear that it's good (not from little kids, but people around my age who can discern between good and bad), I'll play it then. Right now, all my hope power is just about out, it's on fumes.

If the older sonic games appealed to a kids and possibly adults, why don't they try making games like Sonic 3?
These people should stop pulling compilations out of their ass and actually play something like Sonic 3. They need to see what made that game very successful and use that with their newer titles. I have sonic unleashed for the PS2 and it's hard. you have no 1-up boxes in the levels and you have to go through these fucking doors in the shrines to get extra lives. Sega, what the fucking hell happened to the "LOLOLOL GET 100 RINGS AND YOU GET AN EXTRA LIFE" concept?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I feel I should address this. In the HD versions, they actually do use a traditional 1-up system (1-up icons are scattered about, and you get one when you pick up 100 rings), but it's different in the Wii/PS2 version for whatever reason.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Sega seem to have some sort of "mind blowing revelation" about the the games and the fanbase every year?

    Doing absolutely nothing
....was it really necessary bumping this thread? :psyduck:

  7. I dunno. Maybe they will stop if this next game is good.

Its funny, because this topic was about a month before Project Needlemouse was revealed.

Seems their rumored plan finally went into motion?

Must be that the whole of Sega were all chatting about this game.
Which can mean only one of two things.

    1. Someone at Sega finally piped up and said "FFS, just do Sonic!"

    2. Someone at Sega finally piped up and said "ZOMBIEES!!"

    It'll be 2....

    You know...

    ... that doesn't sound like a bad idea. :P

Seriously though, I'm waiting on Project Needlemouse. I'm hoping that it's really going to go back to its roots, but yet keep things fresh. I don't mind a computer generated Sonic, I just don't want it in 3D.

lol 1ups were used as artificial difficulty reducers. Any moderately difficult obstacle had one before you started it.

Isn't that what all powerups are for in any game?
