SEGA files new trademark for "Sonic & Friends" on June 23rd

I wonder what this could be, maybe a multiplayer game?

 

If I had to guess, this is Hardlight's next Sonic game.

This is either a new mobile game or the name of an unannounced spinoff title that will release alongside the movie next year.

 

The world demands a sonic shuffle sequel.

I figured this would just be a brand name

 

Perhaps it's the long-awaited sequel to this classic compilation?

 

Four possibilities:
1. New merch brand
2. New show for preschoolers
1. New mobile game by Sega Hardlight
4. A combination of some/all of the above

 

I also think a brand/merchandise line is a possibility. This fall, there will be a lot of attention on sonic’s friends through the third frontiers update and the knuckles tv show. Sega might as well milk it with toys and stuff.

Apparently it covers similar trademark areas as a game trademark usually would, so people are assuming it has to do with a game's title.

I kinda hope it's the fabled Hardlight game just so we finally see whether or not we're getting something new on mobile that's not a fully touch screen controlled runner styled game.

 

Maybe they just trademarked it because it's a common phrase

 

I can't be the only one that remembers a certain ROM-hack with that name...

 

I've been dying for a Sonic gacha ever since SEGA Heroes shut down. We need more of this:

 

I presumed its to cover bases related to sonic superstars much in the same way that when a new pokemon game comes out they trademark a bunch of titles they won't actually publish a game under similar to the announced ones, presumably to give them more avenues for taking down forged copies

 

It sounds more like some kinda merch thing than a game to me but who knows what it could be. Might even be a "just in case" thing.

She IS the most powerful Sonic character after all. If anything, he should fear Cream.
