As disappointed as I am about there not being at least a stretch feature, after I started playing, I didn't even really notice the bars on the side. That doesn't excuse them for being lazy, but it isn't as big a deal as I thought it would be.

It's still there, and it turned up again in the Knuckles mission I mentioned. This texture and the Cream signpost are probably the only signpost textures remaining from the originals.

To be fair, they were there as advertisements for Sega products they were trying to sell at the time. If you're re-releasing a game and changing stuff inside it, you might as well update them for your currently available for sale products, even if you DO include a title as shitty as Sonic 06. (Seriously, couldn't they have subbed that for ASR?)

  4. Yeah, I find it hard to believe they're still printing that shit and making money off of it. ASR is a little more relevant now.

Makes me wonder if, in a fit of insanity, Sega will ever bother releasing the Boss Attacks and Amigo level for the PS3 version of Sonic 2006.

    I doubt it, though.

Played the trial, the menu screen is easily stretched from a low res but ingame it looked like it was much better, I am playing on vga with my 360 so it could be some sort of 360 upscale trick but it looked ok, still no where near crisp as you would expect.

The entire thing feels cheap, between act 1 and 2 you get half a second of "O loading" just like the sonic cd port to consoles a few years back, it also puzzled me why they went with 60fps in action stages but not at least allow or use 30fps and a bigger resolution, maybe it was such a bad port that it was just impossible to run it at a better res, or they don't want you to see the ultra bad textures after 11 years.

DX sonic model is still as plastic looking as ever, too.

    Jack shit.
They did change some stuff though.

There are now Sonic '06 and Sonic 4: Episode 1 pictures in there.

.....which is what I just said and was explaining WHY they've done it? =P

On my butt in front of the computer. Where else?
I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
Uh... the resolution is fine, it's just that they didn't make it widescreen.

Unless you mean "higher than 720p," in which case, I neither know nor care. My television can't tell the difference, 720p is as high as it goes, being a bedroom-size screen and all. =P

If you play over vga or use a 100% fit on some lcd tv's you will see that there's even a border along the top and bottom, what sega have done is more then just stick some borders on the side because the game is 4:3, if that was the real case then the game would not have anything along the top or bottom.

Because of that (you can see it in screenshots too) the game has an obvious feeling of being resized overlaying a blue background, hurts my eyes a bit like playing a pc game in window mode smaller then your screen size.

I just don't understand why they could not either make it fit the screen or run it at 720p, it's an old game which runs on old pc's better then it does on the 360, it's rather unbelieveable.

I purchased this off XBLA and love it (I only own the DC version). 60 FPS, upgraded textures, and high res, that's enough for me. The terrible voice acting, incorrectly synced lips, and other oddities seem intact. Thumbs up!

It would have been nice for wide-screen mode, but other than that, this is Sonic Adventure and I wasn't expecting anything else. Still a terrific game even 11 years later. IGN and 1UP are way off base.

    All the bitches.

Fix'd. It still runs at the exact same resolution as the DC and GC version. They just upscale it to fit the screen.

This is the biggest reason I don't want this. While not as bad as Sonic AdvenI'LL MAKE YOU EAT THOSE WORDSture 2, the voice sync and incomplete lines drives me crazy. I don't care how hard it is to fix, they're not getting any money from me until they solve this problem.

I'm too lazy to click on the previous page and read the post explaining why it's going up today. Or the post below this explaining that.

    I made a wiki page for this game: <a href="http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic Adventure (2010)" target="_blank" style="background: url(http://info.sonicretro.org/images/5/50/Reticon.png) right no-repeat; padding-right: 20px; border-bottom: 1px dotted #3366BB; color: #3366BB; cursor:pointer; text-decoration:none;" class="wiki">Sonic Adventure (2010)</a>
