God that took me ages to do! I can never imagine how they would have the time to do it.

While Jim does have a tendency to come off as an asshole, he has a point, there's no technical reason why they can't support widescreen in the XBLA port. You can force the PC version to widescreen as it is and the only problems are the 2D elements (HUD, menus, etc.) that I'm sure Sega could easily fix. Either Sega has some other reason for leaving the game at its original resolution (marketing dept. would probably say something along the lines of "preserving the classic Dreamcast feel"), or they're just lazy.

That said, it might not be a problem for everyone looking to buy it. I know all of us could just hook up our Dreamcasts or GameCubes if we wanted to play it (or use the PC version and play it in a proper high resolution with AA and AF) and thus aren't interested in what is clearly a direct port, but I imagine a lot of people won't care.

If Adventure does come to XBLA with an extended package the includes new content, I'll purchase it.

Otherwise, I'll just hook up the Dreamcast or play DX on the Gamecube. No gain, no loss.

You'd prolly better go dust 'em off bro, all we're getting are some achievements.

I've got SADX running in 1080p on my PC, fullscreen, with no HUD errors, no stretched graphic at all. Surely SEGA could do it. ffffffffff.

I wouldn't mind buying the Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure off PSN if they did a good job with it, though I'm looking forward to Sonic 4 a bit more.

If, however, it's one of those games that Backbone can't leave alone by replacing various menus, then I'll stick to my copy for the Dreamcast. ;)

Wait, what? The Xbox LIVE Arcade version of the original Dreamcast game is a port of the GameCube version?

    Confused...

Or, to be precise, a recompile of the PC version, which in and of itself was a inferier port of the Gamecube port, which was a port of the Dreamcast version, with some changes.

Hey, has it been confirmed/disproven that the Game Gear games are included?

It's an inferior port of the PC version, which was an inferior port of the GC version, which was an inferior remake of the original DC game. They just pretend that it's a Dreamcast game, which it really isn't anymore.

Look at that water, it doesn't blend in to the 2d background image at all because it's glowing fucking neon blue, the dreamcast version never had that problem.

Seems like a direct pc port and I mean direct. :/ I know you do this for cheap sega but come on make it fucking widescreen and fix the water at least!

This will inevitably be one of Microsoft's Deal of the Week things, or maybe even someday see a nice reduction by SEGA for some anniversary. If I'm going to get it, I'll download it then.

Does anyone know the release date for this? People are saying 9/9/2010.

In the mix of all this talk about ports from there to here, I was thinking about getting Sonic Adventure. Is the Gamecube version my best bet, now when I don't own a Dreamcast, nor a 360?

Time to bump this topic a bit to post something related to the upcoming Dreamcast releases. Two more games are semi confirmed to be appearing on XBLA.

    Get ready for this...

This image was taken from the server where the Marketplace gets its images for games. It's also been confirmed that Sega Bass Fishing will also come out eventually, but the image for that isn't available yet, but I heard the game itself exists.

    Well...

Makes me wonder how "up to it" Sega (read: Backbone) are to bring Sonic Adventure 2 Battle over. There's no PC version to do a quick and dirty port of the game and, despite how horribly it too has aged, it and its Dreamcast counterpart are still popular among some of the fans.

Shit, all they need to do is make chao an online multiplayer thing and people will rave like crazy about it. I wouldn't be opposed to the alleged Super Sonic vs. Super Shadow mode scrapped from 2P Battle being restored, but that's very unlikely.

(Note: for the uninformed, text data exists within SA2B that indicated the two speed characters had their super forms playable. Running out of rings lead to instant death. It's unknown if this was a battle mode where the two supers fight to the death or if they were useable within speed levels.)

Last few days I have been playing SA1 on my dreamcast now that I fixed the reset problems, I love the game still but damn when I replayed some of the story mode and later levels for tails some of the flaws really stick out. Tails' speed highway stage is a mess, period. The sonic stages are still great fun and so is knuckles and amy, though with flaws also.

I use to at one time own the DX version on the cube, sold it long ago, but unless a lot of these problems are looked into I personally can't see the point of this port especially when it's SD res, shitty pc port with none of the cube's bonus filters.
