First Second SK build featuring lock on. Sonic 1 (rev00) attached brings a no way screen that can't be sorted using a+b+c. Gonna check how to pass through this screen right now. Edit: k, I got it, use the following Game Genie code: FFFFA1:0001 (and restart) The codes itself are quite different in this "blue spheres build": Edit: Not the first lockon build anymore =P
Use the following Patch Code: Code (Text): FFF600:2800 Remeber to disable it when you are in level select.
It only takes one hit to knock out Knuckles in Hidden Palace in this build; just one thing I noticed immediately. Also, Sonic has the ability to free-roam and hit Robotnik when he takes the Master Emerald. And thank you for that patch code.
Well it seems that since my "differences" are just glitches so I'm just going to leave this post like this until I find one.
I think both of those are in the final. I'm pretty sure of the air thing, having played Sonic and Knuckles to death. And I knew of a bug just like what you said in the final w/Eggman, heh. Sorry to be a party pooper, but some glitches never get fixed. :P Also, the air seems intentional.
Just like Luffy and Bellamy =D.. >.> -Knuckles music keeps playing until Eggman appears in HPZ. Unlike in the final when after you beat Knuckles LRZ music plays. -Doomsday zone starts out slightly slower than speeds up but it's not as noticeable as the Sonic3C 608 beta. This might happen in the final but because the layout is slightly different (no meteors in start of the final) its' too hard to tell. -Minor glitch: when entering a giant ring with a shield, the shield stays there when the character disappears. -EDIT: -For the second boss of mushroom hill, you hit the satilite part a few times then after it explodes and takes off, you only have to hit it once. At least that's what happened to me but I might have just hit a glitch. -EDIT 8 or something: -Okay what rattlaman said below, he said it better: it doesn't reset the hits when he rises so if you hit him more than 8 times when he's still in the ground, you only have to hit him once during the chase. -flying battery act 2 has a missing giant ring at coordinates 25A0076C (What? I had debug on =P) it's right before the boss.
Jump over him and be as far right as the screen will let you. You'll keep hitting him and he won't rise. Nice find! This doesn't happen in the final because of Robotnik's location on the ground. I noted the locational difference in http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?sho...mp;#entry180770 , and I think I might have found the reason it was changed. Awesome. You can keep hitting him until a Time Over and nothing will happen.
yay an awesome =D yeah, what he said. Sorry I'm so bad at explaining it. when Knuckles gets all the Emerald, the wrong message appears: despite the message, you can still change into Super Knuckles. BTW here's the missing ring pic:
Haha... that's only the second time I've ever seen that message—the first time being when Squints posted it a couple of years ago. I still love how they went through the trouble to make alternate text for such a small detail. Stuff like that really made the game shine, IMO.
I've barely seen it myself. I forget, what triggers that phrase in normal gameplay in the normal Sonic 3 and Knuckles?
<!--quoteo(post=180810:date=Feb 24 2008, 10:33 PM:name=Dark Sonic)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dark Sonic @ Feb 24 2008, 10:33 PM) Other super rings are there. They still count for 50 rings uhm... yeah I jumped up to try and hit him and this happened... he's not stuck but it's funny looking. Overall that boss was very buggy. -Different spikes: Beta/Final that's where I am now... I have no idea how I'm even going to do that. EDIT: just beat the game with Knux, uhm... that's all I really noticed taking Knuckles' paths. I didn't notice any other level design differences but if it was really subtle, I wouldn't have. So that's all unless I find something neat with Sonic.
Not quite correct. If you get all 7 Chaos Emeralds before Mushroom Hill: SONIC CAN NOW BE SUPER SONIC. KNUCKLES CAN NOW BE SUPER KNUCKLES. Tails gets no message. You lose all the Chaos Emeralds you've collected in the cutscene that plays when you go to an S&K special stage for the first time, which is why you can't be Super/Hyper again until you collect all the Super Emeralds. If you fail to get all 7 Chaos Emeralds before Mushroom Hill but finish collecting them later: SONIC CAN GO TO HIDDEN PALACE. KNUCKLES CAN GO TO HIDDEN PALACE. TAILS CAN GO TO HIDDEN PALACE. I'm fairly certain that you can still be Super Sonic/Knuckles in the S&K zones as long as you never enter a special stage ring in Mushroom Hill or later, but I'm not 100% sure.
