I am trying to restore the enemies for my hack sonic 2 redone but guides on restoring enemies don't say where to put the code for them. And I don't want to go into sniper hex, type in 48 lines of hex, save, open gens, play HPZ and the game crash. I need to know where to put the code for the dinobot, crocobot, trycerobot, and batbot. And also for HPZ how do I restore the items like glowing orbs, the emerald, the foam on the water, etc. Also how do I add levels to the level select? Any and all help at all is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

OK I just tried what it says to restore the orbs and waterfalls, but they look crappier than ever. The only thing it actually restored were the waves. They look normal now. And the restoring enemies guide is what I'm using but I need to know where I put the code.
This is what the restoring HPZ thing did (they are links to images to save time):

Or you could just copy the code from the millions of hacks that have already had this done to them...

I could do that but that would be to much typing as the only free hex editor I know of (sniper hex) doesn't let you copy and paste. Plus that would change the layout and as you can see here I don't want that to happen because now it seems partly like the alpha concept art without enemies because I've no clue where to put the code.

    I'm sorry for you.

    Get a better hex editor.

But, I just don't get it-why do you want to do it? It's nothing special, been done a million times before... If you want a Sonic 2 ROM with HPZ in it just tell me and I will host one...

I even made a palette to make it look like the alpha.

I have to agree with ICEknight that these screens aren't big enough. You should try getting some sort of shop that works with photos. Perhaps Adobe makes such a program.
As Lostgame is edging on, there are many-a hack that have done this if you're just in it for the experiance of playing a finished hidden palace. I reccomend Sonic 2 Delta (a classic) or Sonic 2 long version.
I defy you to find one ROM hacking guide that reccomends you use Sniper Hex, or any hex editor that does not allow you to copy and paste. Try Hex Workshop. Although it technically isn't "free." Just do the trail.

I can't believe I'm posting this as now I only have three posts left and right now I know I won't get membership but here it is. I'm not in it for the experience. I just download a sonic 2 hack and then they suck because HPZ act one isn't fun and HPZ act 2 doesn't have enemies or just isn't there. I'm doing this so people have an option of playing a crappy hidden palace or a slightly better hidden palace with enemies in act two. But how do I restore the orbs, waterfall, bridge, and the emerald? Also where do I place the coding for the enemies in the ROM? And for easier cut level selection without the need for game genie how do I add levels to level select using hex? And I don't want hex workshop because I will have to pay for it right when I'm working on Genocide City in 35 days.

Wanna know something cool? Uninstall it and then reinstall it after the trial period has ended to get a new FREE trial period of 30 days. It's like ripping them off because of their stupidity.

As for the Hidden Palace, it's good to see you're trying something, but since it's been done so many times, you want to try something else... just a suggestion.

There is XVI32 for peecees too, which is entirely free.

As for Hidden Palace, unfortunately for you, far is the idea to leave Hidden Palace in my hack as it is now. It's pretty obvious that all my "new" levels need some work, and Hidden Palace zone too. Hidden Palace will be a "real level" in S2 Long Version, as well as the others levels. Just give me the time to do that, because such a hack requires months, if not years of work.

For me, it required several months to understand how to make a level layout, how to port the sprites and how to make a level select in hex, without any utilities and help. At this point of time, I was unknown on Internet, because I wasn't sure to succeed in my project, and I knew nothing about hexadecimal editing. If you aren't lazy, just search yourself for your informations trough the ROM file, that's definately the best way to learn. We can't really answer you here, because obviously, only a small thing like the level select requires a LOT of time (and space) to explain correctly, and it's not in the guides yet.

Hacking is far to be easy you know. Some things can take you 2 minutes to understand at start. Some others however requires a huge work and a huge knowledge of what we are doing. Try to restore the sprites of HPZ yourself. This isn't too difficult. If you can do that yourself without any help, reading only what's already written all over the Community, then we can speak about a custom level select.

Damn, there is too many people asking over and over the same questions. ;)

All of the ring slots and sprite slots are empty in Hidden Palace Act 2. It's exactly like the extra unused slots for Sky Chase and Wing Fortress.

BTW, you have to get the art for the orbs in there and change the pointer for the animated pattern load cues. Dur. .hack//zero gave me the location at one point, but I don't remember. Ask him maybe, eh?
