Anyone planning on getting the Team Sonic Racing 30th Anniversary Edition? It comes with an artbook and while a lot of it seems like the usual stuff we get there is some stuff in there that looks new or undocumented. I'm really interested in the Cream concept art and the Babylon Rogues turnarounds.
So, I came across this while browsing Tumblr and didn't see it get posted here before. It was published in July 1991, so I guess you can count this as some of the earliest Sonic fan art out there? Just thought it was worth posting. source: https://oldgamemags.tumblr.com/post/157623386705/mean-machines-10-july-1991-amazing
It's been brought up before, probably not in this topic though. Full issue for those who care: https://segaretro.org/File:MeanMachines_UK_10.pdf
That fan artwork gets a boost every 6 months on Twitter :P https://twitter.com/EXTRASHUG/status/1330543771075948547 The artist is https://twitter.com/C86 on Twittter!
SegaSonic 1994 calendar is available here. Edit: On Twitter I was alerted the March illustration has a variant and Tails is different.
I was looking at figures to buy and came across these werid stuff. https://geolog.mydns.jp/www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Yoyo/1629/wfnatu.html https://myfigurecollection.net/picture/2578776&context[]=itemId:1018559 The figures are garage kits and were made in small quantities for the Wonder Festival 2004, which is an event on japan where this kind of things are sold. I assume they are official as they were listed in MyFigureCollection, I guess so since they have the Sonic Advance logo. There was nothing of Tails, but there was a figure of Amy, but it didn't have an artwork.
I don't follow this thread, so sorry if already posted, but some ANSI art from 1994, probably from a BBS; And whilst I'm at it, here's SoA's homepage from Christmas 1995. Unfortunately a super low-res screenshot, if anyone has the original Christmas tree gif please post.
1992 calendar. Here are the crop versions in my Twitter thread, just didn't want to fill the post with a million images.
European Sonic McDonald's boxes have been scanned: Link to PDFs. Here's a link to my tweet if you want to see them but don't want to do it through Google Drive.
Lovely! I've always wanted a good scan of that artwork. Btw, I noticed you named the GDrive folder "SegaSonic Little Planet puzzle". I don't think that's Little Planet, as if you look carefully, it uses the Earth's layout. I think it's meant to be a projection of Earth. Would this be the first clear reference to Earth in Sonic? I mean, outside of old Japanese material referencing the Pacific and SoA's early Sonic Bible mentioning the Earth.
I named it little planet because of the size and not after CD's Little Planet, just a quick description because there's a lot of stuff in that Drive. There's no date on the puzzle, but it was being advertised in '93, though the calendar from that year has another artwork depicting earth. (The one where Sonic is in a spaceship) Can't think of other artwork before these 2 that show earth.
