Popped up in a few magazines around the time of Sonic 3's release...!
the reason some art ended up that way is undoubtedly because the artists weren't given enough reference materials.
That's probably the case. But that "Knuckles'" is the stuff of nightmares. Holy crap.
Welp that is gonna be popping up in my mind as I try to fall asleep tonight.
Oh yeah, I remember that version of Knux. lol
Contrasted the colors a bit, got rid of the black background as lazily best as I could.
I wish I'd backed up the images posted when this thread started. Some links are dead now. Oh well.
ETA: Seen these images a few pages back, and I just wanted to de-skew/re-size them to a good approx. proportion.
I have no idea what this is, other than being skiing/snowboarding related and Japanese.
Looks like holiday catelogs or brochures to hotel lodging.
Fixed the perspective on the covers. They need some artifact clean up:
I love that Snowboard Sonic piece, so I tried to clean it up and cut it out.
How are every pose in that image inconsistent with each other? :v:
So you know how the other day I was saying how you should scan old catalogues? Here's your motivation:
I don't really understand this one - I don't think it's a 1993 catalogue as claimed (I think it's pre-summer holiday as opposed to a pre-winter one), given that all the coupons expire in November 1994. But Sonic 3 should have been out by then - why fake the cover?
Is it even an official Sega placeholder? It looks exceedingly bad.
Recently I've begun collecting the aforementioned Sonic X DVD volumes I posted about a few months back, and already got five volumes out of thirteen. I uploaded the scans I've currently finished here. I'll get the rest as soon as I get some cash, and I'm counting on Scott to give me his copies of volumes 11-13, lmao.
When I get the full house I might scan the discs as well.
You will document these things on our wikis. I don't care if I have to post this stuff for years. I think.
So I know how you guys are massive fans of stationary - here are some Sonic-related pens and pencils and whatever the box with the handle is meant to be, created by a company called "Tombow". Some strange art used by this company already appears in this topic - I'm not sure these front-facing characters do though.
It's a pencil sharpener.
Okay if I can't encourage you to document Japanese stationary, how about a genuine British A4 Sonic binder???
From Highgrove Stationery Limited. I don't think that company even exists anymore!
Get all this noise wikied up.
They actually made different variations of that folder as well as note book.
I have a folder with Sonic & Tails in GHZ and MBZ and a note book with them in SYZ. Sadly, I don't have a camera (not even in my mobile) at the moment.
I actually have one of these, ahahahahaha
There's also a tin pencil case, a couple of notebooks, a rubber, a pencil...
I feel like I've seen this Sonic artwork before.
p.s. I don't know what "M&P Design Group" is - Google's returning photos of firearms and offices.
The blaster Poh-Bee also appears in this Sonic CD promo leaflet. So it definitely originates from Sega
