gametimevault(aka DreamTR) has been consistently putting up proto after proto on eBay for a couple months or more now. There's been a couple topics about his stuff here and there I think, but no one discussing purchases specifically. I thought we might discuss that here. I don't know if most would think this needs to be kept on the down low, don't mention it or else you might draw attention to them and screw things over etc.. But the thing is, I'm considering bidding on stuff, and I'd like to make sure I don't end up in competition with anyone else and drive the price farther than needed when in the end, should we both (hopefully) have the same goal of getting these things out to the public in some form or another. Maybe if others see something they can find more people interested and start a private pooling of funds? At the moment, Genesis protos that catch my eye are: Panorama Cotton: EPROMs say 11/27, and this game came out in August 28 or 1994 according to GameFAQ, so I'm assuming this is November '93, which is nearly a whole year earlier. I possibly will be bidding on this. Just not 100% on how far I can go, waiting until last day to see. Virtua Hamster: AFAIK, the Sega Saturno group got this cart from DreamTR to give us that dump those few years back, and then sent him the cart back. Possibly not needed? Spot Goes To Hollywood: "This game has differences from the original but I do not know specifics. " Ugh, I hate risks like this. It intrigues me, but I don't know.. There's more, but not games I personally care about, so you can check them out on his selling page. Is there anyone here that's been bidding on anything here? I've yet to see much of anything he's been putting up for the past few months ever see the light of day again, besides a couple mentions from some buyers here and there. But most stuff goes back into oblivion never to be heard of again. Is anyone else eying this stuff for preservation purposes?
I always keep an eye on his stuff, but nothing I'm crazy about has come up yet so I never bid. If I had more money I would want to grab these up just to make sure nothing is lost. I'm still sad that Toejam and Earl 2 didn't work out.
A couple of days ago he had a Sonic 3D Blast proto for sale. It had 2 bids before it mysteriously disappeared.
He also has a 6-in-1 cart there. 6 protos for the price of 1? Panorama Cotton is by far the most interesting of them, though. That game pushes insane graphics for the Megadrive.
The floor technique in the first stage showed up in Super Thunder Blade (I.e., the other first game for the console), so be careful what you wish for.
Pretty sure that this exact same technique predates the Megadrive by a lot. And Panorama Cotton does 10x more impressive things with it... branching paths, multiple floors, flying above AND below floors, sometimes dynamically, etc...
