So, here I am again bitches, with more flash goodies! As some of you may remember, Im the guy that does some random Flash programming stuff over the time, messing with physics stuff. and blah blah blah. But this time (Bah, I did this today :v: ), I finished my latest Sonic-related game. It started from a lovely concept I made in Ps, based on the old Game & Watch machines: I tried to simplify the most I could, the GHZ Boss, and that's what I got, Of course, this went to Flash, and I started programming all the stuff. Its pure conditionals, if's whiles and similar stuff. Didnt used physics or colisions on this one, just boolean stuff. Also, this is my first real submission to the world. I did lots of test/poc stuff back then, from random games to game engines. Of course this is still kinda basic, but meh! I'll try to do better stuff later ^^ So yeah, without any more words, I present you guys, Egg & Watch: Egg & Watch - Newgrounds Link --- What do you guys think? Im open to comments, opinion and open talk about it.
If you make the unused sprite overlays a bit lighter and noticeable in game, it would definitely help in the authentic-ness of a G&W game. Otherwise, great little mini game. It looked cool too. Might I suggest one based on an entire zone, perhaps? If you want, I could help in simplifying the whole thing, as I know a good deal about G&W games.
This reminds me of a Sonic minigame I had. Game & Watch, pretty much. Therefore, I liked your concept, and it's one of the most creative things I've ever seen Sonic related.
Soooo hard!! I've always hated the wrecking ball boss, even in normal sonic, and the speed it goes at in this makes it much more difficult. But really nice work, I love the graphics.
This was simple but fun! It reminds me of a Sonic Underground mini game toy I bought years back. EDIT: what's with the big nose? XD
Upppppdate! :v: Now with Marble Zone Boss. I just love that one, go to the Newgrounds link to play it! :D
I still think an entire zone/act would be nice but the Marble Zone boss, no matter how simple, was great. I'm a sucker for these sort of things :P
Well, I'd do that, but its already a "boss attack" right now :P So, It would be kinda hard to modify all its coding to fit levels there. I'll do another game with some stuff like that later I believe, but for this one, Bosses are hard enough to code, since every boss has a "different layout". Well, about the thing being simple...Its a G&W, and, that boss is simple enough in the original game :P
Creative, original and stylish. It might be simple, but I love it to bits. Does need sound though; don't settle for anything less than authentic G&W beeps and boops, y'hear?
Hey, I didn't say it was a bad thing, did I? :P Simplicity is the key to G&W authenticity, and I encourage anyone who makes these sort of things to be as simple and addicting as possible.
Of course, I don't plan to add any music, only lovely and awesome beep like sounds. I know, I was just explaining stuff :P Thanks ---- By the way guys, do someone has the original G&W sounds or a link to them? Looking for the smallest mp3 size possible. I'd add wav sounds, but that would be madness just for a 0.01ms sound :P
Being a huge fan of Game & Watch games I really enjoyed this! As you add more bosses will the number of rings given stay the same for difficulty or will you give extra rings?
Haha, makes sense to me now! Also the Marble Zone boss was just as entertaining, do I get the clear feeling there's gonna be a Spring Yard Zone? (Of course I do, but will there be?) And as for blips and blops of sound, yes please =P
Well, I didn't thought of that yet, I put 25 rings just to make the thing hard/easy enough. I can add bonuses and stuff or add more difficulties (different ring count? or something) Well, yeah I'll do a Spring Yard one...but Its gonna take a while, I'll have to add lots and lots of Robotnik frames (at least 3 per block (I'll add like...6 or 8 blocks total) and I'll have to add 2 jump/attack frames per block too. So Sonic can jump to another blocks or attack him.
So, what are the rules for this? IIRC, actual Game & Watches can't have overlapping graphics, is that right? That would make the Spring Yard boss pretty much impossible, because as Robotnik has to come down to destroy the blocks, Sonic has to be able to jump in order to hit him. Unless you can alternate between Robotnik and Sonic in ball form and that is enough to represent the movement clearly.
According to the picture he posted in the original post, the damage has already been done. Although, yes, G&Ws cannot have overlapping sprites, because of how they work.
This is awesome. It kinda reminds me of those old McDonald's happy meal LCD toys. That's nostalgia right there.
