Ok guys, new Concept texture experiment running realtime in C4 game engine. (we are not looking at the grass here) want to do a bit more to the rock textures to get them production quality. (IE remove gloss in cracks, and make details specific for where model walls change depth and direction among many other things) however before that. I'd like to know if you guys think I'm taking this in the right direction. (maybe the bad future will have the broken look and feel as seen below, only with darker colors?) (Yes we are using Paralex Normal and HORIZON mapping)
That looks pretty excellent. Realistic and varied but has the tiling intact. Hm, at that second shot, look around the middle - I think there's a bit of a tiling error. Very nice.
Thanks I'm glad you like it. Tile error? I don't see it, could u circle it ? however this texture will end up scrapped anyways since its just a test. P.S. realistic? awww,,, I'm trying for a surrealistic look, Just wait till it gets the dust dirt and grime layers.
Actually, disregard my comments on the error. It was a trick of the eyes. They look both real and surreal - real because well... look at it. It looks like actual stones. But surreal because of the triangle tiles. It's a very nice fit, really. Don't change a thing.
No problem. Its understandable especially since this forum auto resizes the screens. However, there is a small block overlay problem. I knew it was there from the start, its near the center.( it wasn't corrected since this is only conceptual) (Some additional ideas) I was thinking of having different levels of weather corrosion for past present and future, as well as changing the block's rotation orientation. so in the past version of the level you may not notice the blocks cracks very much since they aren't nearly as old. not sure what id like to do to good future blocks though, it's something to think on.
Hmm, yes, those sound good. Perhaps in the bad future, the blocks are clearly more weathered and cracked and damaged, and in the good future, perhaps make it look like they've been refurbished? Also something to think about for the bad future: Robotnik's taken control, yeah? Perhaps some smog in the level from all his machines spilling out pollutants?
Yeah the AXSX ( sonic xtreme) demo was released on our website/Forum as a closed beta. http://www.sonic-xtreme.com/ In other news , Me and the wife just finished moving to the new home we just bought, Anotherwords, there wont be much done on the 2 games for the next few weeks, have alot of crap to unpack and organize. ( also there hasn't been anything done in the past 2 weeks because of the new house)
Hey guys, its been slow going for me on fixing up my house, but things are getting done and out of the way, so far I've redone quite a bit of electrical, a bathroom, along with many other random things. Heres whats left on the house. *rebuild 2 decorative Soffit extension parts under the roof, Ones already 1/2 way complete, and the other isn't so bad, There is total of 6 that will be getting new roofing. (covered up just in case its going to rain) Picking up the custom metal roof pieces that I engineered later this afternoon. after that I can finally set out to peal than paint the house. everything is going so slowly because its all being done between working. after this is all done and out of the way (Sonic Xtreme and Sonic CD remix levels will be going full steam ahead!)
I'm taking the liberty to Move Project AXSX over to Sonic GDK in the UDK engine. (It runs much more efficient than our AXSX engine) Enjoy the video of the new custom Fisheye running in Sonic GDK. (please Ignore the player model and camera position related, these are the default recourses and settings used by By Sonic GDK) Sorry guys, The video recording software that was used is a demo, allowing only 15 FPS video capture. ( rest assured that the game runs a steady 60 FPS on even mid ranged systems, unlike the old engine) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBMGzrSP8Do
Can anyone guess what zone this be ? thought I'd give you guys a peek at some early level dev stuff. (I'm doing this easy zone as a practice project to help get familiar with UDKs interface, and workflow) (Realtime UDK Screenie)
